All-Star hell

I think I finally get it. I'm not one who has focused my time on online matches in the past. I grind my offline conquest, moments, showdown, etc. I'll usually play here and there RS, events and maybe occasional BR. I have some good games and some bad games, and, ultimately, end up frustrated whenever I play online against someone. Without committing to it very hard, I think my best RS finish might be Wild Card or whatever comes after it.
So, I started playing this new event when it started. Legend difficulty, I thought I'd get smoked. But at least I could gain some progress on some prestige pitchers. Now, I've had more success than I expected. I've gone something like 22-9 or something. I hit OK, relatively. It's not smashing the ball all over, but when I miss or mishit, I know it's because of something I've done. And when I hit it well, I get rewarded. And my mistake pitches that inevitably still happen even with good input, don't get crushed every single time.
I went back to ranked because I was feeling good and it was a mess. Not getting rewarded for what I felt was good swings and decent input (I'm not crying foul on perfect-perfects) but still good input and feeling like good swings. Late on fastballs and, especially, sinkers even after coming from legend. More mistakes floating over the middle that ultimately get crushed. I couldn't believe or handle what I was seeing. Was getting so frustrated.
Went back to the event to just see if it was a fluke. Back to doing decent in the event. Again, not crushing, but doing OK. My PCI placement even felt better than it does in ranked (I'm currently in Wild Card). I don't get it.
Anyway, I just wanted to say I understand now what people mean when they say All-Star hell. I didn't believe or understand it before. Now I get it. All-star is so [censored] random. It needs to be fixed.

I’ve had a similar experience, although I’ve taken way more losses than you.
I find the pitch speeds on AS such that as early on just about everything. Maybe I should starting drinking when I play just to slow things down...

I certainly have that issue of being early, for sure. But there are also times where I’ll be early one at-bat and then late the next on same swings (it feels) and same pitches.

Yes, it’s infuriating. Late one at bat, early the next. It must be all random. How else can we explain hits on 8 PCI and outs on 15.

Can’t hit for s**t in ranked whether it’s all star or HOF, events is a totally different story even on the new legend difficulty one. SDS had to jack with sliders between Ranked and events. I realize I’m bad at hitting but it’s gotten ridiculous

I agree, I think All-Star was broken or something this year. I'd be terrible one game and hit a few dingers the next one. All-Star beats me like a drum against the CPU alone! After every game at that difficulty I'm more confused than I am frustrated, lol.

I don’t know if it’s sliders or not, but it’s kind of ridiculous. I keep going back and forth in division series right now. Lose a couple, win a couple. I think I’m 13-10 this season. Pitching is usually a strength for me, but I’m getting crushed. So many pitches floating over the middle. And my hitting is so hit or miss even when I feel I’m swinging well.
Like I said, I did pretty well in the legend event. Things just made more sense. When I had good input, I was generally rewarded. When I didn’t, I didn’t.
It just gets super frustrating when you think you’re doing everything right and you don’t get rewarded for it. All the usual complaints, my good swings don’t get rewarded, my pitches floating into the middle even though I don’t aim there.
And I had a game yesterday where I was late on everything, and I mean everything, that Maddux threw. Like what? I noticed it and still couldn’t do anything to stop it. I figured it had to be some kind of lag or something between our connection. It was ridiculous. Late on Maddux on every swing?
One thing I don’t get, it almost seems like my PCI placement and analog pitching was more on point in the event (going where I want). How does that make sense?

This game is so infuriating. Ranked seasons is just [censored] broken, particularly talking on AS level. I'm usually measured in my responses and my feelings about this game, but the past week or two have been so [censored] frustrating. I don't even know what to say right now I'm so pissed off.
