Very easy to explain
When you lose hitting and pitching is broken
When you win.....crickets

I mean that is true but just because people complain about the hitting and pitching when they lose doesn't change the fact that the pitching and hitting in the game is still pretty bad. Plus of course most people don't complain when they win. They won so why would they complain about it? Doesn't change the fact that the hitting and pitching is still bad.

Hitting is broken because they think Awards Ken Griffey Jr. should have a .875/2.952/3.179 slash line
Pitching is broken because Finest Cole should have a 0.0014 ERA with 24K/9 and a 0.0000003 WHIP. -

i am not one of the ones that makes this complaint routinely, but the biggest pitching complaint is that change ups and curve balls tend of float up from the targeted area (despite good user input) and are routinely crushed, making them pretty useless. Also not getting strikes called on the black
hitting complaints are all over the board, I won't even try to sum all the ones I have seen on here.
-
Hitting broken - Very early/late foul tips, very early/late bloops, perfect foul balls, Early seemingly more rewarding than "Good"
Pitching broken - good input on pitch, ball ends up right down the middle of the plate -
I shouldnt be scared to throw a changeup, but I rarely do because when the game decides to hang it, easiest to hit out.
-
I generally don't have a problem with the hitting, I just deal with it and move on. I can certainly see where hitting complaints are coming from though. Pitches just hang way too much. Curves and changeups are practically useless.

I won a game the other day in the bottom of the last inning on 5 hits including 4 homers. Hitting is broken.

I wouldn’t say it’s broken, but there are games where your placement and timings aren’t being rewarded and your losing because of it... I play with high speed internet on a gaming monitor with 1ms response timing and some games I play no matter how early I swing it just won’t let me time a fast ball, I’m not sure why.

I don’t have the appropriate context because I’ve never played this game prior to this year.
Can you all describe for me how hitting and/or pitching is different this year than it was in previous years?
It's broken because the game ignores user input in favor of the RNG. Example: you aim a curve ball in the dirt with a perfect release? Too bad your pitcher only has 80 control so that ball will be hung in the zone and hit for a home run. Hitting wise is very similar. Too many well struck balls go for outs. In 2019(or it may have been 18) over 80% of barreled balls went for hits. I would say that it's less than 50% in this game. Don't get me wrong it was broken last year too.

I enjoy the game, don't complain about it too much, but there are games where I am clearly the beneficiary of some nonsense, and games where no matter what I do I'm going to lose. I think Shippett juices stats so it's most pronounced at Shippet but it tends to happen everywhere but really on All Star level for the most part. Anyone who says that there isnt some RNG element at play is crazy. It can however, obviously, be overcome but only by hitting. I havn't encountered the same amount of nonsense on HOF and can honestly say I've won the games I won, and lost the games I lost with no real shennanigans to speak of. HOF is simply a better game than those played on AS.
I've gotten better at managing this part of the game but sometimes it seems like there's NOTHING you can do to avoid losing, ie: every break goes against you, perfect perfects = flyouts, every pitch gets sucked into the middle of the plate. It is a thing, but like I said mostly on AS.
-
I have noticed this year that high contact hitters are nearly useless compared to last year. Wade Boggs, Tony Gwynn, and others like that often hit weak fly balls unlike the crisp line drives and slap singles of 19.
-
Hitting perfect pci and timing out. Pci no where near the ball gone. Pitching pray it goes where you want. Also early or late hit, homerun next batter.

This. On top of the floaters a perfect pitch release should result in that pitch going exactly where you wanted it to. I can't count how many times I have placed a pitch in the strike zone and had a good release only to travel a foot or two out and bean a batter. I agree a good release should be penalized a small amount but not drift a few feet and bean a batter. That is for poor releases.

0.0000003 WHIP.
I've given up more than one hit/walk in 3,333,333 innings pitched with Cole. I say the game is accurate.

Agreed. Even bad pitchers can hit a spot when their mechanics line up in real life. There's two things they can do to fix this. 1. Make the yellow line harder or easier to hit based on a pitchers control. The better the pitcher, there bigger there yellow line. Maybe make a perfect release option like they did with throws home. 2. make a pitchers "PCI", like a circle that indicates where the ball could go upon release with each pitch having a different sized circle based on how good that pitcher is wity that pitch. It's really baffling how they haven't figured this out yet. It's not that hard to come up with something that takes into account user input AND player attributes. But they have zero reason to change. No competition in town.

I have the same complaints abt the game win or loss and so does everyone else I talk to

I don’t enjoy how there is less animations and overall feel of baseball. Mlb 17 had problems too, but I went back and played it and jeez it plays miles better than 20. Some cheesy things here and there but the basics are just overall better.
