How do you guys feel about players taking tons of pitches in events?
I get that patience can be a big factor at the plate in this game, but I am facing a fair amount of guys that seem to be auto-taking.
Does anyone else find taking to 2 strikes annoying in event games? I pretty much just swing away.

I have no problem with people using this strategy. It's not like they are doing anything cheesy

If you take more pitches you (a) get a better feel for what your opponent is likely to throw (b) get a better chance at getting a strike assuming you are taking balls, (c) reduce the pitchers stamina either leading to missed locations or trip to the bullpen and (d) give yourself a greater chance of catching a hanger and sending it over the wall.
Seems like a good approach to me.

They literally made a movie about it:

For the first few innings....i will never swing the bat until i have two strikes. It gives you time to learn your opponents tendencies and see how/good bad they are.
For events...well...i kinda just free swing because im usually just trying to prestige guys and dont care about W/L.

they would not take tons of pitchers if you throw strikes
-
This is a video game.....swing the bat lol

I generally agree, but three inning event games, meh, I’m seeing lots of guys taking good pitches that can’t hit very well.
I wish strikes on the edges were called more.
-
Perhaps the perspective needs to change. Why do so many pitchers throw so many balls during event games? Wouldn't batters swing if they were strikes? I get a ton of walks not because I don't want to swing but because I don't get anything to hit from those pitchers.

Good point. Personally. I am trying to throw strikes. It’s tough to consistently hit your spots this year.

Edit, tsn bugged out and posted it multiple times

This isnt an attack on you OP, but i think it's kind of ridiculous how much some people shove "unwritten" rule type stuff into The Show, if a guy wants to be a patient hitter in events, that's completely fine. Its not his job to make sure his opponents are having fun or getting out of games fast.

Yeah, I’m fine with that I guess.
It’s just funny how the meta changes. A few years ago, it was not common at all in events.I guess if you can’t beat em...

I just played a guy who swung at every pitch I threw even stuff way off the plate. I guess there are a few guys out there who swing away. I think however that Halfbutt is right most guys are taking quite a few pitches more than usual.

Haha that honestly might have been someone who is just not very good. When I first started playing a little over a year ago I literally almost swung at everything and it wasn't because that was my plan going into a game.

I feel like I have played against guys in quick count events that were just automatically taking, even with 2 strikes. They would get a couple walks and then decide to swing and hit a 3 run bomb.

So the expectation is that people should be free swingers and suck?
