The thing about the check swings

To me, the check swings in this game are a big part of what makes gameplay so frustrating. It is bad enough that the pitching is so out of our control, but even when I do make a good pitch and fool my opponent, he is so often bailed out by a check swing non call. I have kept at bats alive with horrible check swings too.
We’ve all complained about this, and rightfully so, but to me, the biggest problem with the check swings is that, effectively, it is rewarding hitters for not swinging the bat.
Now I’m not talking about you sluggers that have a great eye at the plate. I’m talking about players that are poor at hitting. The game rewards them instead of encouraging them to swing the bat.
To me, this is just counter to baseball IQ and prevents players from actually getting better at hitting.

Honestly don’t know how some guys check so much? I feel like if I breath too hard on the button he swings.

Yeah I’d like to learn how people check swing sm as well. I feel like whenever I get a check swing it’s on a perfect pci and it’s put in play for a weak pop out or grounder to the infield

I honestly think it's being light on the button and not mashing it. I feel like I have a pretty good feel for this and can tell when I'll check swing, and can react mid-pitch - and even notice when I believe it should have been a check and my guy swung out of his shoes anyway. It feels realistic - to me, anyway.
What isn't always said here, is when I check swing and know I should have full swung because I was on it but didn't quite get the button hard enough, or when I hit that frustrating as hell swinging bunt for the double play.

We’ve all had those, and they are frustrating, no doubt, but to me they are nowhere near as egregious as the check swings.
I just lost to a player 100 games below .500. I gave up SIX walks and two hits. One of the hits was a grand slam on a pitch that missed its spot. Sure, that happens.
There is not an ounce of doubt in my mind that if even half of his check swings had been called strikes, it would have been a 2-0 shutout win instead of a 4-2 loss.
Sure, I gave up a slam and lost. No problem. But this guy was an even worse hitter than me. He was getting by on auto-taking and check swings.

They need to code something where every check swing in an at bat becomes significantly harder to pull off. Same with the ump calls. Ring em' up if they've check swung five [censored] times in the at bat, please!

You ever notice in every situation Sds can bail out a user....that's what's frustrating about the game the most....I know that's baseball...but think about it...everything you do positive can be turned into a negative....that's why check swings are the worst.
You know you fooled him....but you didnt fool his attributes.

The real issue with check swings is that too often they're check swings with the pitch 50% or more on the black that isn't called a strike. That and people who check swing 4 times at pitches out of the zone. I have never seen an MLB player draw a walk while check swinging at all four pitches. If you check swing at more than 2 pitches in an AB the ump is ringing you up after that. Also, I'm not talking people flinching. I'm talking about actually making an attempt towards the pitch and holding up. No MLB hitter will do that on 4 balls. Call strikes as strikes and if you're down 2 strikes in a count and check swing more than twice, you're fooled and rung up.

The following is only my opinion. I feel like SDS wanted to put an emphasis on making players be patient at the plate this year. Patience.......in just about every Avenue of the game usually rewards you. I honestly don’t have a problem with the check swings at all. My problem is with the erratic pitching. If the pitching was spot on target, I don’t think the check swings would matter. But......with pitching being a disaster this year, if a guy can check swing and foul off pitches........sooner or later you’ll call for a pitch on the corner or even a bit outside, the game will fu$k it up and groove it down the pipe for a bomb!!! Pitching is what really needs to be fixed! But I’m just a dumba$$ welder what do I know!

I don’t disagree that the pitching is the real problem, but I think it goes hand in hand with the fouling off and check swings. With all of these as they are now, the game really is untenable.
I wish this were the only problem but there is so much more. I’m pretty discouraged. I’m not sure what it would take to make me want to buy the game again.
As an experiment just now, I switched to pulse. I tried to locate and mix my pitches in the first inning but gave up four runs on four hits. For the rest of the game I pretty much threw it down the middle and let the game put my pitch wherever. I got groundball outs, fly ball outs, and even a K.

I just faced a guy in an event game who checked nearly every swing. It was unreal. He was auto taking like two pitches and then checking constantly.
I was getting so frustrated I was swinging early at everything. The game went to like the fifth inning before I could string a couple hits together and win.
Something has to be done about this. Believe me, I am a bad hitter. I could use all the help I can get, but this is not baseball.
Another interesting thing I noticed is how many of my pitches got pulled to the middle of the plate. I had the hardest time getting calls on the corners, but when I looked at the analysis post-game, there was a sea of dots in the middle of the plate. Considering I never intentionally throw down the middle, it was really weird.

I know people will hang pitches in PvP games and swear it’s some scripted comeback logic (usually followed by the words “little billy”), but what isn’t mentioned much here is that this happens in games vs CPU as well. I’ll be playing the Yankees or Dodgers on Legend in Conquest, where pitch control is essential, and guys like Maddux or Fergie Jenkins will just hang pitches with good timing (not perfect, but good) and instead of being low and away it’s a high hanger. It seems like every ten or fifteen pitches, one just goes wherever it wants, even if it’s the opposite side of the zone. It happens to everyone, and it happens in all game situations (not just when I’m winning), but it doesn’t make it less frustrating.
