Andy Van Slyke

If Slyke is ever in the game he’d likely get two cards. An all star card from ‘88 with good power vs right.....maybe 85 power and good running numbers and maxed out defensively. Other card would be a veteran card from ‘92. Still maxed out defensively but not as much speed. Higher contact numbers as he hit over .320 that year. I’m a Cards fan and I regret the day we traded him for a washed up Tony Pena if I remember right.
-
I always loved his play style, just a down and dirty get to work sort of mentality. I'm a child of the 80s so guys like him, Mattingly, Brett, Sandberg (my youngest son is named Ryne after him) are all some of my all-time favorites.
-
The 80’s was a fun era of baseball. Back when 35 home runs meant something. Now you’re number 8 hitter had 35 bombs.

Why is every discussion here framed as “he wouldn’t make your lineup?” There are a lot of players that don’t make the god squad. But what if people want to use them. Isn’t it good that people might consider different players in a lineup. I think it would get pretty stale if everyone used the same lineup. Maybe play with guys you like? Not everything has to be “wouldn’t make my lineup.”
-
Agreed. I’d love to see Van Slyke, but while doing that, might as well give me Bobby Bonilla while you’re at it. Love that era. Gimme some Chris Sabo too.

Give me Otis Nixon

I completely agree with you sir!

Maybe we’ll get a Slyke card next year. Maybe one of his animations will be him sitting in centerfield with his hat propped up on his head cuz Barry couldn’t throw out a one legged Sid Bream. Lol
-
They should make his card a Phillies card.

I agree with this whole-heartedly. I still play regularly with Don Mattingly. He's my favorite player of all-time. Is he the best first baseman in the game, not close, but it makes me happy to use him.

Hey at least Don has a super nice swing in this game

He benefited a few years offensively in Pittsburgh, being in front of Bonilla and Bonds but not much offensively after that.

I’m an offline player because my internet service is terrible (it’s where I live not my equipment) but I’m still using the Awards Andrew McCutchen and Daniel Murphy cards in my regular lineup, and I rotate between Lightening Tatis and Awards Banks on my bench. Cutch, Murphy and Banks don’t make anyone’s lineups but I’ve got 52HR 251 RBI with Cutch, 36 HR and 132 RBI with Murphy and Banks has 29 HR and 103 RBI (and I haven’t used him in a month because I’ve been rolling Tatis). I know it’s offline but I play strictly HOF or All Star and I can’t justify taking Murphy or Cutch out. My lineup (in order):
RF: Lofton
LF: Brock
CF: Cutch
1B: Ruth
Posey
3B: Foxx
2B: Murphy
SS: WagnerBench: Tatis Jr, Mantle, Morgan, Cobb, Molina
