Title. At the start of the year it seemed like SDS wanted to put in a relatively equal amount of prime, signature, and awards cards. As the year went on, however, prime cards have been pretty much relegated to mostly relievers and “meh” players; guys like Michael Brantley, Ryan Klesko, Hunter Pence, are just some of the examples. It has by the far the least amount of 99’s out of the 3 top tier card groups with just 7 as well.

This is definitely a minor gripe, but I was actually excited to see old card art back in the game once again. I get that awards cards looks cool, but I want to see some old cards!! It sucks to see prime cards get relegated to basically a category to put somebody in if they don’t fit either a signature or awards, because that means it’s the group with the worst players (generally).

Here’s to hoping there are more prime cards next year.

Pretty simple reason why there's only 8 pre-90s Prime cards.

Topps card design before then was mostly garbage.

They have other card designs they can pick though. Besides, it’s just nice seeing those old cards. I barely even glance at the awards cards anymore

They should just let you pick card art like madden does.(SDS can charge stubs to change it. lol) But I like the art of Signature Series and Awards better than the prime one. Also not a fan of finest card art this year. To much color.

I think some of the new card art is good this year. Signature series is little bland, although it looks clean enough and the same could be said for the awards series. The finest, HRD and ‘20 PS cards are a little busy, there’s a lot going on in the background, but they look modern and fresh. As said, with the prime and so on, it’s always nice to see some actual baseball cards in the game, cards you potentially owned or recall IRL, I like the ‘87 Topps with the wood effect, I used to love that Molitor card from the Brewers set.

My favourite new design is the future stars series, they’re really clean looking, eye catching cards. The prospects and FOTF are decent too, the player images on FOTF really stand out, not being your average card design by any means. The card art is good this year, for the most part.
