POTM Mondesi/Ramirez
-
Awhile ago I made an acct for my son. He stopped playing a few weeks later and now has started back up.
He doesn't play online so any card he uses will be used strictly for offline play.
He currently has 150K in stubs and is 20pts away from 99 Jackie.
He is currently doing the Aug POTM and once he gets all the free packs, with the way prices are inflated, he could get another 300-400K for those players if he sold them.
Are there any 3rd basemen or shortstops available, on the market or through grinding, that would warrant him not going for Mondesi and J-Ram?
If it matters; he's just the TN Moments away from 99 Tatis.
Me personally; I sold the Sept POTM players as I didn't need Mondesi and J-Ram.
But is it worth him locking in those stubs (maybe 200-250k after the stub sale ends) for those two players?
Or just buy a 2nd/3rd/SS off the market?
Also, he will be picking Honus at 300 stars, so his infield could be 99 Jackie (2nd), 99 Honus (SS), and 99 Tatis (3rd).
Am I wrong in thinking the he should just sell these Sept POTMs while theyrw high and use those stubs towards his outfield?

I really like JRam, but didn’t need stubs and I use Mondesi as a bench bat/pinch runner because I have Tatis and Jackie. Jackie is so good for me, I can’t take him out.
Sheff at third if you have the collection is great, or pick up Hornsby or even that new Hanley Card, he’s cheap and he absolutely rakes.

He'll never get Sheffield. Even though he has most of the LS Diamonds; the only BIG one he has is Verlander.
I'm just trying to figure out if he should lock in for Mondesi and J-Ram, which would push Tatis, Jackie, or Honus to the bench (or put Mondesi and J-Ram on the bench).
But if he's going to have close to 250K locked into two players; they'll be starters. This why I thought of him maybe selling while prices are high and buying some outfielders after the stub sale.

Mondesi and J-Ram are really strong - especially Mondesi if strictly offline, as he can bunt-cheese to 2nd and steal to 3rd reliably against the CPU (if he so chooses). Amazing leadoff hitter regardless of bunt-cheese or not.
For the outfield - doing the conquest extreme for Yelich is probably worth it, plus a ton of packs.
If he's doing all the monthly's, he'll get Castellanos for a power outfield bat (plus a 99 pitcher in Carrasco).
Gwynn and Brock via TA would be decent OF (unless he wants to just bit HR).

Just doing the conquests from Shark on to current will provide a lot of cards to potentially sell for stubs to buy exactly what he wants too.
So lock them in for J-Ram and Mondesi?

Maybe lock them in and sell Honus if he really needs the stubs. Then he gets two top players and stubs.

Hmmm.

Also. The Castillanos card for completing 5 (I think) of the monthly rewards. is a beast hitting wise. Has he got him yet? He can play OF too.

I recommend what this guy said. Yelich is a drag but very doable and great card. I prefer JRAM over Sheffield and honesty I prefer Castellanos as well. Plus you get mondesi as a bonus

I think it could be argued that Mondasi alone is better than Honus. If you had to choose. Depends on who you are better with but I love that Mondasi is a switch hitter.

Only issue I have for him is as much as he plays; if they release more of the packs and the prices drop.

Rogers Hornsby is a great choice for third. Easily one of the top two or three right handed bats in the game. His defense is a bit scary at second but he is fine at third. If you want a really budget option Hanley is really good. Plus he has great speed which is rare at third.

J-ram crushes lefty's, but on HOF his small PCI against righty's IS an issue. I'm strongly considering platooning with Honus.
