Kenley jansen Walter Johnson reviews?

How is he in RS so far? Is he a top 3 closer or should I not bother getting him? I need to upgrade my pitching becuase last game my opponent scored 12 runs (I scored 17 though) so I need a new closer. Also is Walter Johnson good? Stats look amazing but I never really see anyone use him. Any thoughts?

I've faced Walter Johnson a few times and a couple of those games he shut me down, and then there were a couple of others where I was able to get a few runs off of him. I recently got him and have only pitched one game with him but he threw a complete game and only gave up one run. I think he's the type of card that if you know how to pitch with him he can be very dominant. He still throws 100+ into the 9th inning and that alone is enough to be dominant against some people. I think if you can mix his pitches up and tunnel them well he can be very effective. His control is spot on and I was able to pretty much locate exactly where I wanted to on almost every pitch. Only one game so small sample size but I liked using him.

Thanks for the input. I might have to try him for 140k

Jansen seems to hold up better than Gagne. So far he's been ok for me, just have to pitch smart. Johnson can be really tough to hit but his sinker is useless. All his pitches are flat so you can throw the changeup high as well from time to time, but that essentially gives you 3 pitches. Located fastball 70% of the time and drop in a curve or a changeup every now and then to mix it up seems to be the play with him. He's ok but I feel like there's better options.

I think a lot of people shy away from him because he has that loooong funky windup. He also doesn't have a ton of lateral movement to his pitches with a FB, sinker, change, and curve. His curve breaks a little side to side but not as much as some guys. That's why I think it's even more important to tunnel his pitches well and mix it up. With that 94 control too it makes it pretty easy to do so. I was able to do it in my one game with him and I've faced others who have done it to me with him as well. With his buy now and sell now prices what they are you might even be able to get him for 140k and if you don't like him sell him back for a profit or at least break even.

Good luck man. I think he's the type of guy that you either like a lot, or hate. Hopefully you have some success with him. I did in my first game and looking forward to getting to use him again.

Kenley seems like he’s gonna be filthy as expected. My stats with him aren’t great but that’s only because I’m running him out there in this event regardless of his energy to get prestige stats
-
I think he's extremely good
Has pitches that move a good amount in both directions and a change up. -
Not sure what level you are in RS, but I hover around 500 (I’m not the best) and down there Johnson is amazing. He’s my favourite starter, and has my best ERA and K/9 of any starter on my team. Some guys do okay against him, but if you go up against a guy who can’t read his release or handle his 102 mph fastball he absolutely dominates. Don’t know why more people don’t use him. (I finished his KO requirement for prestige long ago and am only a few innings away from getting him prestiged... I don’t play a ton of RS).
-
Johnson’s wind up alone makes me hate him and never want him on my team but I hate going up against him and his fastball. If your looking for a righty Maddux for me in 25 games has a 2.25 era and Madmax through 16 games has a 3.22

I have faced Johnson 3 or 4 times and I can't touch him.
He has a wonky delivery and his pitches seem to have some extra giddy up.
I gear up for the heat and then he dots me up with off speed stuff. FILTHYsome people dont like him. I dont like him because I cant touch him.
