I’m sure Ty Cobb is on a short list of one the most reviled and despicable human beings to ever live. He allegedly killed a black man for merely looking at his wife. He was a notoriously dirty player that would literally do anything for his benefit and yet he is a part of this game. So if we’re going to hold people to a certain standard off the field then stop putting that reprobate in the game. If not than stop leaving great players out of the game for actions that have zero to do with their actions on the field!!!
@KILLERPRESENCE4
Most of the "spicy" stuff concerning Ty Cobb are from the Al Stump book "Cobb".
Mr. Stump is a discredited writer and known plagiarist. Movies like Field of Dreams and Cobb (starring Tommie Lee Jones) furthered this false narrative. There was no evidence that the stuff Stump alleges to happened actually happened. If you really want a well researched, footnoted look at Ty Cobb, I would suggest
"Ty Cobb: A Terrible Beauty" by Charles Leershen.
It really opened my eyes regarding the great Ty Cobb. You can also find some of his lectures on YouTube regarding the book and Cobb.My point is that Ty Cobb was a despicable human that gets a place in this game but they omit other players who have done far less and payed steeper consequences for those actions. Bottom line is it’s a baseball game not a political referendum on someones beliefs.
Look into that book. Cobb won't look despicable. He is not the monster he is made out to be.
But I agree. It is a game and that was the point of starting this thread until morons hijack it with nonsense.Did you notice that dude just banned? Lol
he probably got banned cause you cried like the girl you are and were too afraid to man up and dm dude, youre such a tough girl.

Jose would look great on my All Cuban or All Marlins team, but he will not be in the game. His recklessness lead to his death and the death of 2 of his friends.
He could have been great, but sadly we will never know.
He definitely was going to be a top 5 pitcher and still in his prime.

I posted this somewhere else, but the post got me thinking.
What cards would you like to see in the game but for outside of baseball reasons we know we will never see.
This is a serious question and a great conversation to have.
I will start with the biggest POS and a dude that should never be in the game but would have one heck of a card.
This is not an endorsement of the player or his beliefs, this is purely based on his on field exploits.1999 PS John Rocker
That guy was so clutch that postseason. I remember his epic ABs vs Mike Piazza. That NLCS was one of the best performances by a reliever I have ever seen in the playoffs.I looked up his #'s from that postseason and they were even better than what I remembered.
10 Games
12 IP
18K's
1-0 Record
3 Saves
0.00 ERAum no dude, rocker had a couple good years that's it- braves didn't even win '99 series against yanks, I'd rather have mark "the bird" fidirich (apologies if I spelled that wrong), Mitch Williams, heck id take thad bosely over rocker and bosely was a career pinch hitter- rocker is a douche- Hank Aaron walked away from his conversation with rocker regarding his si comments rolling his eyes cause rocker is a complete ignorant person, rockers career died after '99 and it should remain dead.
It took a paragraph for you to let us all know you don't understand the concept of this thread. At least you were thorough.

AJ Hinch and Alex Cora

I'll also add Doc Gooden.

Kirby Puckett
Roger ClemensAnd of course Barry Bonds
Bonds would be in the game if not for his unwillingness to come to an agreement with SDS.
We have plenty of PED users in the game already.Barry was the best red user, best non red user that ever played this game, Barry started using "peds" cause he saw everyone else doing it and getting acclaim and he knew those getting "ped" acclaim were complete scrubs compared to him so he figured, why shouldn't I- everyone else is doing it, lying and getting paid. with or without "peds" Barry Bonds is the greatest to ever play the game if you can't understand that you obviously didn't live in his era so please shush.
I agree Bonds was the best player in Baseball BEFORE Roids.
Was he the best ever? That is subjective. I like to say that he was the best player I have ever seen.
It has never been close, but Mike Trout is starting to make an arguement for that title.Mike Trout is a super stud! But his numbers arent even close to Barry so let’s hang back for a bit.

Felipe Rivero card with some steel bars across the front would be nice. All new series called The Bighouse Edition!

John Rocker??? Guy pitched like 250 innings in his entire career.... there's guys that can do that in one season. He was a [censored].
How about:
Barry Bonds
Sammy Sosa
Manny Ramirez
Alex Rodriguez
Pete Rose
Randy Johnson....you know actual good players

Are they not?
Let's compare the first 10 seasons of Bonds vs Trout.
Keep in mind Bonds had 10 full yrs vs Trout only having 8 plus seasons.
Trout's 1st year was a 40 game late call up and I am counting the numbers from this season (his 10th).
Trout had 3 MVPs (maybe a 4th this year?) 3 top 2 MVP finishes, 7 Silver Sluggers and was Rookie of the YearBonds had 3 MVPs, 1 top 2 MVP Finish, 5 Silver Sluggers and 5 Gold Gloves

Trout hit for a higher avg, hit for more power, got on base more. Stole less bases, but got caught stealing a lot less.
Bonds has the advantage in Gold Gloves, but Bonds played LF and Trout is in a premium defensive position CF.Let's see where Trout goes from here, but through 10 yrs Trout is better than Bonds.
Yes, I know Bonds exploded in the 2nd half of his career, but we all know he was on PEDs. So when both players are clean, Trout has the edge.
And this is from a guy that before the last year or two considered Bonds the best player I have ever seen. Mike Trout is not only in the discussion, he is asking for a seat at the table. -

Bonds is the all time in HR and walks (single season and career)
Trout is real good and building a heck of a career, but let's not compare him to Barry yet please.
Barry was by far the most feared hitter to ever play in his prime. The guy would have hit 100 home runs the record year if he wasn't intentionally walked twice as many times as any hitter has ever been intentionally walked in a season.... he averaged almost 2 walks per game. I watched Barry play... it was at the point where anything in the strike zone was gone. Any mlb pitcher who would say they would rather face Bonds in his hitting prime than Trout in his best season so far is lying to you.
Barry is the best hitter to ever play by a lot... he's just tainted and doesn't get talked about much. The New England Patriots have been caught cheating several times in their run, but that doesn't mean they weren't better than everybody else. -

You do know why Bonds was hitting 60+ home runs in his 40’s, right? You don’t stay on the field that often and produce at that level into your 40’s without PEDs.
There is a reason ItsaCanesthing stuck to the first 10 years as a comparison. If you want to compare actual ability and non-tainted statistics, it’s best to compare the stats before Bonds started juicing like Hi-C Ecto Cooler was about to be discontinued.

It’s ironic that you claim it is 100% fact while simultaneously ignoring the facts which were actually presented to you. There is nothing wrong with having a difference of opinion regarding how great a player is/was, but if you’re going to attempt to insult the intelligence of someone else...you may want to actually disprove their points. Otherwise you just come off as an ignorant fool.
-
The facts were comparing early years. I chose not to compare first ten years or compare ped or non ped. I simply said Bonds is the best hitter that ever swung a bat and said Trout is really good but cant even be compared to him when talking about hitting. If you are confident Trout is better then maybe you think he will break the HR record someday, but I seriously doubt he gets even close. I'm not trying to be ignorant and not an expert, but I watched both play with my own eyes and I know anybody denying Bonds was better either is in denial or don't understand how dominating Barry was. How many times has Trout been intentionally walked with no outs and nobody on base?
