Best SS in the game?

SDS

To me, having that switch hitting shortstop in Chipper is valuable but it comes with the cost of his fielding. I would prefer not to grind for a SS CAP as I have a dominant 2B CAP. So the question is who’s the best SS? Ernie Banks? Chipper? Yount or Young? Maybe even Cal Ripken Jr. even tho his swing is slow?

SDS

Wait until 6th inning for Rollins, other than that Banks is the best

SDS

lol just posted about this earlier.. and probably yesterday.. Have you tried chipper at SS? a lot of errors? was it prestige?

Banks is probably one of the best SS in the game.. his swing to me, was pretty good.. but speed is [censored] (got thrown out from RF) and overall not worth the price of 150k in stubs... i'm going to try Yount tonight.. see what happens, or prestige Chipper at SS.

SDS

Prestige chipper at short just makes so many errors even though his switch hitting is so valuable so I’m torn

SDS

Does anyone have Jose Ramirez at SS I’m at level 64 and have him or springer

SDS

Michael Young is a stud

SDS

There was a decent amount of love for Ozzie when I asked this exact question last week.

Young better than Yount?

SDS

CAP is the best now and will be at the end of the year.

If not using a CAP, I would not consider putting Chipper at SS with that defense. Banks for power, Smith for speed/defense, Yount/Larkin for a good balance. Rollins will be intriguing, but I doubt he has diamond defense.

Ozzie's defense is tough to beat, if you value that sort of thing... tried Yount for a bit, and I realize I'm probably an outlier on this, but I hit better with Ozzie (no power, just average). I realize that would likely turn had I played Yount enough, but the drop off on defense, to me, was enough that I had to go back.

I really don’t, I’ve just never liked them. Say what you want about Future stars being unrealistic, but they aren’t switch hitting catchers named big daddy [censored] with hitting attributes across the board above 100 with diamond fielding and 70 speed

SDS

HRD Cal - Larkin - Prestige Didi - Yount - Monthly Correa .....in that order for me.

At least they take some work to get there now. CAPs are much better now than they used to be 2-3 years ago. 99 speed catcher with max hitting from both sides and the ability to throw 100mph fastballs from a funky sidearm delivery as well.

SDS

Honestly I like the free 99 Larkin. Balanced player, has some speed, decent pop, good defense. Banks is great but slow, Yount has no pop, chipper is nice but that fielding is suspect. Normally I would not care about defense but that extra baserunner usually leads to more than just one run.

SDS

I personally like my CAP at SS. Get diamond equipment for it and it plays well above an 89!

SDS

Prestiged Didi

SDS

Andres Gimenez.

SDS

Chippers D is bad at 3rd, I’d never put him at SS. Hell I don’t even use chipper for a bench bat.

I was just going to ask why there was no love for POTM Didi or Correa?

I haven had the chance to Prestige rhem yet; but chances are they'll be on my team for the rest of the year.

I've had Ozzie at short for a while too. He hits great for me, like you said no power but gets a ton of base hits. I know there are many guys out there with better offensive numbers but can't bring myself to replace Ozzie and his D. I am intrigued by that Yount card and have thought about giving him a chance but haven't done it yet. His defense isn't on Ozzie's level but so far it's the only card out there that comes close. Sounds like the drop off in D is noticeable though so that's good to know. Hard to replace Ozzie. Not just the defense either but the .300 hitter with good speed on top of it.

I just did this because I picked up Bryant to try out and I wanted to keep Cano and Ramirez in the lineup. Serviceable defense so far, but I don’t expect any spectacular plays. Kinda small sample size though.
