I bought the game during inning 2 and have been grinding ever since. I haven't gone to ranked seasons yet, but I have played some BR. I'm getting to the point that I think I'll have a competitive online roster soon.
I take with gold Blackmon, and have always hit well with him in DD games. I know there a lot of high rollers here, do you keep lower rated players on your team that you produce with? Or can I expect to be doomed once I go online with him? I'm thinking about using the 87 Blackmon or 89 Yelich in left field.

If you ccan hit with em at a very productive clip...keep on using them! As you know though, ur defense in those positions will be pretty awful to say the least.

I'll try the 87 Blackmon then. I'll stick him in left. I feel like left field only gets routine fly balls.

If you can hit with them then go for it. Plus Blackmon has a decent bat for his OVR since his defensive stats are so bad. Though you may notice that guys who rake vs the CPU you might struggle with in RS, and vice versa.
It's good to just go in with your best team and your favorite hitters and just play some games, and start experimenting with different cards. If you buy a card that's supposed to be good and you end up struggling, just sell and try another.
It's worth it to have at least one good hitter on the bench, so if you don't wanna put both those guys in the OF you can use one of them as your PH.

His 87 is my main LF. When I’m hitting well with him he feels unstoppable. And sticking him in LF I haven’t much issues.

I can lose to anybody, and there are many like me.

I batted .380 over 1300 AB last year with the 84 overall Ken Griffey Sr. Almost exclusively all online. Granted his defense was miserable, but he was almost always on base and had 100 plus clutch. Trea Turner is that for me this year. He’s got the most AB on my team, bathing .384. Speed kills.. not only is he bunt cheese but he swings pretty well too. Play to win the game. Moustakas did that for me for awhile as well. He was around .345 with half his hits HRs. If they help me win, they play

I’m actually enjoying the event right now. Getting to use live series golds and having fun.
In RS I still have FOTF Carlos Santana in my line up. I hit well with him. I have better players overall to replace him but every time he comes up to bat I’m confident.
-
Honestly I would probably avoid RS if you want to keep enjoying the game lol.

I loooved that Gold Griffey Sr card. The guy just raked opposite field singles and gap doubles for me all year long, and he could swipe a few bags. I played him over high Diamonds with much better numbers because he just wouldn’t make outs.

I know at a certain point I will run in to god squad that hit everything. I wish their were tiered lobbies in these games.

It’s more that the gameplay is terrible compared to other modes. Fielding blunders feel very scripted and pitchers speeds are way different. I can’t catch up to a fastball on RS but have no problem being ahead of 99 in an event or BR. Doesn’t make sense.

Blackmon is great off bench. Griffey Sr is great value but Betts for me has been great. Crushes middle in pitches. Very quick bat
