How much does Pitcher confidence affect a batters power and contact?
-
Recently I saw something in the MLB Show reddit that indicated that if a pitcher has high confidence, pitches you hit off him will have worse results.
-
For example if you hit the first pitch a few times for an out the pitchers confidence will be very high to the point that a homerun would be a deep fly instead.
-
Once a pitchers confidence is a bit down in later innings - your starter being the in the 6 or 7th for example - its easier for opponents to hit [censored] harder off you with better results. (Home run instead of deep fly.)
Can anyone shed any information and detail on this? (How would this effect relievers for instance?)

Way too much.

Pitcher confidence needs to be nerfed, the per 9’s already create enough variables
-
Hold up I didn’t even know pitchers confidence affected this, I thought it was just the ability to throw strikes more often than not

If they're feeling the slightest bit insecure, the likes of Tony Gwynn and Vidal Brujan turn into Barry Bonds.
