Hold left on the d pad while matchmaking. It will take a little longer but it keeps you matched up with someone close to your ranking. Started doing it a couple weeks ago after reading about it and it made a huge difference and resulted in even matchups and fun games, in my experience anyways.
Can anybody please confirm this is true? If so I’d love to be using this
Confirmed.

I wouldn’t consider 25 games over to be an average player

Below average, Above average...whatever....I just know I’m not elite so I shouldn’t be getting matched up with elites is all I’m saying.

Lol I meant it’s an above average record.

Even though xp does not relate to skill level, it probably means the person who is a diamond has better cards than a silver.
Not everybody who plays this game grinds, flips, or puts money into the game.Does rating mod matter this year? I remember SDS saying they were taking it out of matchmaking last year.
If this game goes cross platform online next year, they should probably consider matchmaking based on rating and xp. Either that or make rating mod matter more heavily.

The time you play can also greatly affect match making. Playing during the day on weekends or after school hours way more likely to play a kid. Playing 9pm-11pm way more likely to play a grown man that cant play during the day, 11pm-2am way more likely to play someone who has put a lot more time into the game than you.

This 100%! My favorite time to play is like 4-6pm on a Tuesday for this reason

thank you to all who responded. I tried holding left on the dpad when finding an opponent and whilst I'm still winning at the same rate, the games are WAY more competitive - so much more fun, even if I lose!
THANK YOU - happy gaming

I already do this and still I can't find a good match. I suspect it's becuase I'm pretty far down the skill ladder and there just aren't good matches to be had. I'm [censored], sitting down at 397, and my rating won't go down even after a bunch of losses. If I occasionally get a win, it pops up well over 400 and that's about the last thing I want. So I don't play much but I really want to.
My only hope is I'll learn to hit, which is the biggest issue I have. I can hit on All-star vs CPU decently. At least enough to win most of those games. But in RS it's like a different world. Better pitchers, less predictability, and it just seems faster. I'm always late on fastballs and early on everything else.
