Please help me understand...

All joking aside, could be the dumbest question I have asked but here it goes...

I got a friend that I play in an exhibition game every now and then. He barely plays the show as is but, when I play him, I lose 75%of the time.... here is my issues though.....
I usually pick the white sox, (fav team) he picks the indians, I jump out to a 2-0 lead by 3rd inning. Things seem fine but right around the 6th inning, all of a sudden my guys cant catch, or Ill pitch the ball [censored] near in the dirt and he jacks a home run!?!? After about 3 errors and 6 runs scored, I can no longer get a hit. Good/goods or perfect/perfects while guessing is pitch in a great spot in the zone I produce pop ups, foul balls, or hit it right at his defender. Then, top of the 9th I either get 2 hits on 0 outs then cant keep it going or I will finally hit a home run but still lose.... in contrast I tried a different team (nats) and he stayed with indians. I beat the breaks off of him, caused 0 errors and held him to 1 run..... right after that game was over, I picked the sox again and got destroyed.... This game confuses the living hell out of me........ what is going on here?
