They made MTO irrelevant with this update

Some of you will never accept that modes outside of DD exist, and that not every part of this game has to be judged by how much it helps your grind.
-
I thought we got double affinity points on purpose because it was what they wanted. I have seven March Octobers going right now and it's all I've played the last couple of days and now I'm not going to play it for another second.
-
Even w/o double points its not that bad. I stopped playing online so for me, TA has been the most fun mode this year. I don’t get the “never play it again” comments. It is still the easiest way to get a lot of guaranteed TA points.

Double points was a mistake, of course they were going to correct it.
While true, how many other mistakes are currently active in this game that aren’t corrected? I think that’s where people have a problem. Out of all the problems in the game they choose to address this one

Not being happy with how the programming is playing is not a “mistake”. Screwing up the rewards is a mistake.

Yep all they chose to address was the exploits
Game Update 1.10 Notes
April 30, 2020
General GameplayThis update includes our second round of game-play improvements with various fielding and base running improvements, including more adjustments to locking into the ball marker. We are still committed to monitoring and improving what issues may remain. Fixed an issue that allowed the user to initiate a "perfect jump" steal attempt in any game versus the CPU. Fixed a logic decision that allowed the CPU controlled third baseman to risk a throw-out opportunity at home plate, instead of the safer throw-out to first base for the third out.
UI
Another fix made to the now-infamous HOME RUN OSD so that it doesn't overstay its welcome. Fixed an issue where an opposing team's custom uniform could appear in Showdown immediately after completing a head-to-head game. Fixed an issue where the WHIP / ERA appears to be rounded in the Standings and Statistics screen in Diamond Dynasty. UI text display window adjustments to prevent pertinent information from getting cut off or truncated. Added a progress tracker to the Team Affinity home menu. Separated Player Programs and Prestige Programs in Diamond Dynasty to help distinguish them from one another.
Leagues
The Mercy Rule can now happen in League games. Fixed an issue that would cause a Network Error message display when backing out of the Message Board rapidly. Fixed an issue where offline player ratings were sometimes used in-game. Fixed an issue that would prevent users from selecting Starting Pitchers in the bullpen.
Conquest
Fixed an issue where a user's stronghold was taken over, the team occupying it would have 0 fans.
Miscellaneous
Reduced the amount of XP received in Play vs Friends, Retro Mode, and Home Run Derby to be more in line with other modes. Fixed a bug that was preventing players from exchanging duplicates of cards that were in their lineups. Fixed a bug that was causing March to October to reward double the amount intended. Notables will properly refresh for every new appearance and next game simulation in RTTS to prevent outdated information from displaying. Online Notables will now display properly while holding the R2 Button during Batter Walk-Ups and will also appear accurately on Jumbotrons. Minor polish to certain Presentation and Bullpen Camera angles. Play by play adjustments and corrections. Various uniform updates and fixes. Various crash fixes.

They’ve stated to fix some of these before and haven’t so I’ll wait to play a few games then see if it’s actually fixed

Of course they took that away. Now its just another mindless grind, nobody enjoys.
SDS wants you to buy stubs and spend them on the market for TA Exchanges... thats why they took it away.
But hey... lets keep Fielding a hot mess and pitching and hitting a rng fest...while youre not wrong, you sound fun at parties....
Ok and this statement makes no sense
It does and was completely appropriate.
It was appropriate to tell him He's right..and mock him in the same sentence...yeah that makes sense

Did it say the double points when you checked under MTO in team affinity, or did it still say the normal amount?
-
If it was on purpose it would have been stated somewhere before TA2 hit.
-
While I'm not upset that they patched it, I do think they should look at the data and strongly think about making the double affinity a permanent thing (or maybe a weekend bonus or something). I bet if you looked at the numbers, more people played MTO this week than ever before. I saw way more streamers playing it, and I sure played a ton. It gives the game some nice variety to have a ton of different options.
Another thing to think about: when new players pick this game up in the summer they are going to be so far behind in the TA grind they might just ignore it all together. Making it so an MTO run on All-Star or below can at least get you past stage one TA will make more people play MTO and more people (especially new players) care about grinding TA.

The only people who are going to miss the double points were the ones taking advantage of it. And I can almost guarantee that those who were taking advantage of it played the mode a lot more in the past week because they knew that it would get fixed.
Most players, those who don't visit forums every day, probably did not even realize that there was double XP in the mode for a week.
What was the retro xp?

It was a bug people were exploiting, of course they were going to patch it.
How did anyone exploit mto just by playing the mode? Your comment makes no sense.
Did you start playing it a lot more when you found out it was giving out double xp? Are you upset that its no longer giving out double xp?
If so, you were taking advantage of a bug in a mode you probably wouldn't care about otherwise. So you can cry about terminology, but in the end its the same thing
First off it didn't give double exp. Honestly your comments are so full of ignorance and misinformation I will just stop reading and replying.

Agree with you. Beyond the data about how much modes are being played, I think it would be fair to increase the points to put it more in line with Showdown, or at least bridge the gap. If it takes, say, 6.5 hours hours to complete MTO on veteran (I use veteran because it's comparable to a majority of Showdown moments). That's 54 TA points max over 6.5 hours assuming you max out your rewards.
With showdown, you're looking at 1.5 hours per stage 1 showdown (I'd say an hour for stage 2). That means you could potentially earn 80 points with 30 min to spare or a failed attempt accounted for. Plus I'd say you'd earn more XP in showdown, plus packs.
No problem with them removing double points for now and not saying double MTO points is the answer, but I wouldn't mind them looking at trying to bridge the gap, even if they increased it by 50%. Just gives people an incentive to play a different mode if they choose.

I honestly didn't even know this. I always do M2O on Veteran cause I suck and planned on doing most teams twice.
-
I'm perfectly OK with SDS fixing the MTO points awarded. What I'd much rather have is a better way to get Team Affinity for using my DD card collection, since the innings grind might as well not exist. It's painfully slow unless we compromise our lineups with lots of cards from the same team, and just about no one wants to do that. We've got other cards we want to use.
-
lol no they didn't. You could get to (or dang near) 70 with an M2O run on All-Star. That's more than fair
BUT if SDS wanted to capitalize on this, they could make "double MTO Weekend" events to push players into playing the mode

They should add a 5* mission that requires beating X team on X difficulty (Maybe Hall of Fame). That would be a fair addition

Excellent post.
I bet what happened has given them this exact idea - but if a patch is the way to change the XP earned them they will have to overhaul the way XP is done to make it something that can be switched on and off at their end without having to download a patch. Either that or plan the dates in advance and push them through in a patch earlier on so that the game knows when to assign different amounts of XP.
Rockstar does this kind of thing all the time, I’m sure other games do too.
