Teach me how to hit a fastball
-
YouTu.. search - "MLB Show Tips" - and there is a video from a few years back that helped me a lot...Basically about plate approach and not trying to chase every pitch. ... And how to effectively take away the high-in fastball, which is key to putting pressure on the Pitcher.

One of the most helpful hitting tip videos is Mcgunki’s on you tube. It’s the “click, click, click” method. Highly suggest looking it up if you are struggling with consistent timing.
Also, make sure your TV is in game mode.

Haha - I have a monitor!

Not that I’m one to give advice since I’m batting like .240 online, but I took Feller deep today so here’s my approach. Now Feller has a pretty big speed differential between his fastball and curve so I basically committed to the fastball in the upper half of the zone.
You can bet I missed a lot of curveballs but I think, at least at first, you have to take away the fastball and react offspeed. If you’re stuck in the middle, you won’t get either and will flail all game.
Commit to looking fastball and don’t worry about offspeed.
I mean, you can do the opposite too, just sit on hanging offspeed pitches, but it doesn’t take long for your opponent to learn you can’t hit the cheese.

As others have said before you have to commit to hitting the fastball. The worst thing to be is behind on the fastball and early on the off speed. So pick one before the pitch. Play some offline games on legend or hof and just sit fastball. With practice you’ll be hitting good/good line outs before you know it

Yeah, I have a monitor too. I played for about 6 weeks complaining every day about how terrible the game was and how it was super unrealistic to expect anyone to be able to hit a fastball with these ridiculous swing timing windows. After all that, I found there was some BS game mode type setting on my monitor for graphics that had been switched off. I couldn’t even touch the ball on HoF and I thought all star had become pretty challenging, since I could barely get past 700 in RS. Played like that for weeks, getting so annoyed. Changed my settings and made CS pretty easily yesterday, no real issues. It’s crazy how much of an effect it had.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still chase bad pitches and I still get heat blown by me when I’m not sitting on it, but I can tell the difference between not being on time and not being able to be on time. So yeah, always check your settings, even if you do have a monitor. -
1 question slightly on topic here... Does supersampling mode help or hinder performance?

Yowzers, knew it was coming high and inside and could not hit it. Struck out 15 times vs diamond Nolan Ryan. I’m mediocre at the best of times but wow talk about frustrating. Don’t blame the guy for spamming high and tight fastballs - but just couldn’t hit it. Guess these old eyes just can’t keep up anymore....maybe SDS might consider making an old man’s softball league video game?
You’re not the only one.

Which Mcgunski video is it on YouTube? There are a couple. Thanks

Don't try to swing then. He will only know it your weakness if you swing at it. If you don't swing, he will start to throw pitches lower. So just don't be tempted.

I had trouble with high and tight fastballs too a couple years back when I first started playing. All I can suggest is, anticipate it and get lightning quick moving your pci up and in. A lot of people who play this game can be terribly predictable and uncreative with their pitch sequences, and the up and in fastball is one of the go tos, particularly below 800 or so. I always calibrate my quickest swing timing to an up and in fastball and adjust to everything else accordingly.
