How can I hit in custom practice, but be late on fastballs in showdown? I put the same settings in practice. Should be the same, right? And this time you can't take a lot of pitches to tire the pitcher out.
The key is to damage confidence not drain stamina.
Easier to drain Stamina, that's time and patience, confidence comes from hitting the CPU around, but when you fail to do damage and have poor pci placement yielding Ks, you are in big trouble
-
Right. Now it is. But my original question was how can I hit in practice and not showdown?

because in DD the sliders are adjusted to make it more difficult. Also to help out little jimmy so he has a chance (RNG). Can't lose business from the baddies buying stubs if they know they dont have a chance. It's been this way since MLB 18. 17 was the last true game where skill always prevailed
-
I believe I'm Little Jimmy and it's NOT helping. Veteran difficulty should be the same in ALL modes.
-
I’m not that good but I’m okay especially since I switched to a monitor.
If y’all losing the new showdowns 9 out of 10 times than y’all need to find a new focal point for picking up pitches because whatever your doing isn’t working.
-
Stage 1 you have to be very patient and draw out your walks. Most of my hits if not all of my hits come from home runs or 100+ mph liners in the gap. Very rarely do I get a base hit that falls in front of the outfielder and it's always in the gap. If you draw out your walks or draw out the pitch count then they tend to leave pitches down the middle where you have to hit a home run or put it in the gap or it will probably lead to an out. Draw out your walks, wait for pitches down the middle and avoid groundballs at all costs because most of the time they won't go through. Draft guys with high power over guys with contact.

Not according to most people.
You just said yourself you can't drain stamina.
Also those most people are wrong abd looking at the old way.

You're are confusing passiveness with patience.
A passive hitter takes as many pitches as possible. A passive hitter will do something like take until two strikes then start swinging to protect.
A patience hitter spits on balls and pitches on the black, but punishes pitches on the meat of the plate.
Don't confuse the two like you are.
Your best pitch to hit most likely won't come with two strikes. Be patient and punish pitches in the meat of the plate.
It's more effective to drain confidence by not chasing balls and not swinging and missing. Punish the pitches that are good to hit regardless of it is the 1st pitch of an AB, a 2-1 pitch, or a 3-0 or full count.
If you sit at the plate passively, by the time you have drained the pitcher too many outs have occurred and you have too much ground to make up in a short time.
If you are patient and swing at good pitches you will knock down that confidence, create more balls being thrown, create more pitches hung on the meat of the plate, and in the process stamina will still come down. It's easier to hit a pitcher with 80% stamina and 20% confidence than it is to hit a pitcher with 20% stamina and 80% confidence.
In showdown the pitcher is going to hang a lot of pitches. Punish them.

They have made Showdown so incredibly easy now that I just can't understand these complaints. It seriously is absurdly easy.

U hit the same but sds bones u harder

That is just it, we shouldn't have to be going out and buying monitors to play a game. I understand the RS guys wanting to get an edge, but this is ridiculous.

Defense is god like in showdown. It’s incredible how many liners you can hit directly at infielders. I went 0 for 6 on 100+ mph line drives my last attempt at stage 1 and it will probably be my last attempt.
Seems like when the game starts getting close every fielder becomes a gold glover. Have Yelich rob me of hits by crashing into the wall. His defense in the game stinks so I’m not sure how he’s making diving and running into wall plays. Also had a triple play turned on me on a perfect perfect. How.

I do agree with that for sure. And I want to play on my 70 inch tv not my 27 inch monitor. But this game has to be played on a monitor. There’s no way around that. If I didn’t switch I would have quit this game already.

Hitting on Veteran in those 2nd Stage Showdowns are the worst...
-
How are people still complaining about showdown? I’ve gone 6/6 on stage 2 in the past 2 days going from 0-15. I get it that’s not going to be everybody’s experience but every single mission is on veteran, it’s so incredibly easy guys c’mon now.

They are probably playing on tvs. I can attest playing vs 100 mph+ That you can’t see is a lot different game. And believe it or not, when I was going through it my friends on monitor telling me they could beat it easy was not really helpful.

How is it people cant understand that not everyone can hit in this game?
If you are a RS guy and you have a monitor, you are not the regular gamer. SDS should not be making the game for you. You guys use a monitor to get advantage on your opponent in RS, that is fine whatever. The rest of us who play on TVs are just not good enough to dominate hitting like you are. And then you get all pissy when we complain that we still cant hit. You have any idea how that sounds.
Until moments last year, offline people rarely had to do anything harder than rookie, yes you had your occasional beat team x on all star, but really they didnt need to play the computer on any particular difficulty. Moments locked you into a difficulty, but you have endless free opportunities to do it, good players with monitors get through these with no problems, but the rest of us have to play them over and over until we beat them.
Now you get Showdown, locked into a difficulty and no chance to redo them without starting over and losing stubs. Yes I can beat the CPU on Veteran way more than 95% of the time, but that is both hitting and pitching, sometimes I can score 20 other times I score 2 or get shut out. I can beat the computer on AS, probably 85% of the time, but hitting at any level is not something I can do consistently, even playing this game almost exclusively for the last 3 years.
I just can not put the pci on the ball and have enough time to swing unless my PCI is already in the spot the ball is going to be. No amount of git gud is going to fix that, if it could I would have already. I haven't this year, but on 17 and 18 I could beat the CPU on legend. Again that is a full game where I can out pitch the CPU and get enough mistakes from CPU to score runs. Again see where I am going, I dont care the difficulty, I can not hit consistently enough to beat Showdown regularly. In fact I have more success beating final boss on AS, but that is because I have more outs, regardless of how many runs I needs, I usually need 8 or 9, because that 2nd boss is more likely to beat me, because 10 outs isnt enough.
Again I have not played stage 2 Showdown, because I am still so far behind on stage 1, because I fail 9 times out of 10. But when I keep failing the first boss that is on Veteran, I can't see how I am am just going to all of a sudden start winning these all the time. I dunno maybe, but the reason I have beaten the ones I have is the final boss is usually wild and beats itself. Something the CPU doesn't do on Veteran.
I wished they would add more ways to get points for stage 1, 5 points hor 250 innings, is a longer grind than MTO. Or what I would have preferred is stat missions to be repeatable. That is probably the biggest mistake. Because of that its MTO or Showdown to get TA points.
