I truly don’t get how people struggle with it so much
Because not everyone has the same skill level. People are complaining about Corbin moments, I beat them all without a restart, on Showdowns, the ones with more pitching moments I do well. When I play the computer or people for that matter I win because my pitching keeps me in the game, unless I face someone with good placement who can hit pitches on the edges. But me, I can hit any pitch unless it is down the middle, not even vs CPU, on any difficulty. So to me hitting on Veteran, AS, HOF, none of that matters unless I get a pitch down the middle. On AS and HOF the computer will throw out of the zone a lot and I can work counts and draw walks. On Veteran once the the CPU stops throwing it down the middle I cant buy a hit. And they are still strikes it throws and not even on the corners. Just a slider that starts like a down the middle FB and breaks away I'm flailing all over the place with my PCI like a spaz, or the change up or split finger. I'm swinging for FB and I get fooled. The CPU will get me like that several times before it makes a mistake. By then I am down to only a few outs. But if I am playing the CPU on AS for a program, I will win it 5-0 or 1-0, or 10-2. But to string together hits on command to neat hitting moments on Showdown, cant do it.
What is most frustrating is that with how much I am playing it, you would think I would be better right now, but honestly I really am no better, I either get lucky or I don't.
" Because not everyone has the same skill level."
But wouldn't that mean it's not luck winning it? If you can be skilled enough to not struggle, that means it takes skill to win no?I haven't lost a showdown in awhile, I think I've only lost one stage 2 showdown since it was released. I make sure to play all the moments and I always go into the final game with at least 9-11 runs.
No for me its luck because I lack the skill to beat it, not luck for everyone.
I lost 8 out of 9 times today.
5 times to beat AL west. 3 times I lost to 1st boss, 1 time the 2nd boss, last time I skipped 2md boss to win it.
Then I played NL west 4 times. Lost to first boss 1st time, skipped 2nd boss and lost to Bueller had it tied with 4 outs bases loaded, tried but, thrown out at the plate. Then hit a grounder to pitcher for 2 2 3 double play, last out was weak grounder.
Tried 2 more runs lost to Yates again both times, 2nd time I failed to score a run i got like 1 or two hits after the lineup went down in order.
My problem with playing all the moments is I have just about as much success beating the final boss as I do the first boss and usually always lose 2nd boss when I do try and play it.
9 attempts was I dont know how many hours, but its turning into a longer grind than MTO.
No matter what I am not getting better. In fact getting knocked out by Yates the last two runs actually says I am getting worse at it.
I feel you, I thought you were talking about affinity part 2. The division ones are hard, I only complete those about 50% of the time. Honestly, I'm probably just going to do exchanges to get through part 1, it's pretty bad.
I added to my post, haven't tried them yet. but like I said I am not expecting them to go well, only thing that may help is having runners on already.
The moments that give you runs are much easier, it's not hard to get there with at least 9 runs if you do all the stuff. Plus they give you better cards right away to, like two diamonds instead of one.
I hope so
Today i went
2-3 vs Hendriks
0-1 vs Ohtani
1-0 vs Verlander
1-3 vs Yates
0-1 vs BuehlerAnd like I said I should have beaten Buehler, I had bases loaded and 4 outs only to choke. that one was on me. But if you see that is 3-6 for Showdowns on Veteran. 1-1 on AS.
And vs Buehler the CPU OFs made 2 diving catches.
The whole grind is deflating, even when you win its s relief, but still being on edge that long is not good for my heart or blood pressure. And when I lose it is worse.
I think it's great for HH players who enjoy that sort of thrill, but the mode is not for me, the problem is there is no better way to earn that many points outside of MTO. 5 points for 250 innings is too long, stat missions are not repeatable, and 50,000 exchange points for 10 TA points is too much.
With all other programs completed, I am basically done with this game until Friday unless I MTO or Showdown, one I am burned out on, the other has burned me.

How can I hit in custom practice, but be late on fastballs in showdown? I put the same settings in practice. Should be the same, right? And this time you can't take a lot of pitches to tire the pitcher out.
The key is to damage confidence not drain stamina.
-
I just completed one in 16 minutes skipping right to final :^)

Not according to most people.

stamina was the wave for the first showdown, its all about dat juicy confidence.
edit: the reason being the cpu threw many more balls in first showdown and it was just in general actually a bit challenging as opposed to how easy stage 2 is due to everyone complaining.

Easier to drain Stamina, that's time and patience, confidence comes from hitting the CPU around, but when you fail to do damage and have poor pci placement yielding Ks, you are in big trouble

Right. Now it is. But my original question was how can I hit in practice and not showdown?

because in DD the sliders are adjusted to make it more difficult. Also to help out little jimmy so he has a chance (RNG). Can't lose business from the baddies buying stubs if they know they dont have a chance. It's been this way since MLB 18. 17 was the last true game where skill always prevailed
-
I believe I'm Little Jimmy and it's NOT helping. Veteran difficulty should be the same in ALL modes.
-
I’m not that good but I’m okay especially since I switched to a monitor.
If y’all losing the new showdowns 9 out of 10 times than y’all need to find a new focal point for picking up pitches because whatever your doing isn’t working.
-
Stage 1 you have to be very patient and draw out your walks. Most of my hits if not all of my hits come from home runs or 100+ mph liners in the gap. Very rarely do I get a base hit that falls in front of the outfielder and it's always in the gap. If you draw out your walks or draw out the pitch count then they tend to leave pitches down the middle where you have to hit a home run or put it in the gap or it will probably lead to an out. Draw out your walks, wait for pitches down the middle and avoid groundballs at all costs because most of the time they won't go through. Draft guys with high power over guys with contact.

You just said yourself you can't drain stamina.
Also those most people are wrong abd looking at the old way.

You're are confusing passiveness with patience.
A passive hitter takes as many pitches as possible. A passive hitter will do something like take until two strikes then start swinging to protect.
A patience hitter spits on balls and pitches on the black, but punishes pitches on the meat of the plate.
Don't confuse the two like you are.
Your best pitch to hit most likely won't come with two strikes. Be patient and punish pitches in the meat of the plate.
It's more effective to drain confidence by not chasing balls and not swinging and missing. Punish the pitches that are good to hit regardless of it is the 1st pitch of an AB, a 2-1 pitch, or a 3-0 or full count.
If you sit at the plate passively, by the time you have drained the pitcher too many outs have occurred and you have too much ground to make up in a short time.
If you are patient and swing at good pitches you will knock down that confidence, create more balls being thrown, create more pitches hung on the meat of the plate, and in the process stamina will still come down. It's easier to hit a pitcher with 80% stamina and 20% confidence than it is to hit a pitcher with 20% stamina and 80% confidence.
In showdown the pitcher is going to hang a lot of pitches. Punish them.

They have made Showdown so incredibly easy now that I just can't understand these complaints. It seriously is absurdly easy.

U hit the same but sds bones u harder

That is just it, we shouldn't have to be going out and buying monitors to play a game. I understand the RS guys wanting to get an edge, but this is ridiculous.

Defense is god like in showdown. It’s incredible how many liners you can hit directly at infielders. I went 0 for 6 on 100+ mph line drives my last attempt at stage 1 and it will probably be my last attempt.
Seems like when the game starts getting close every fielder becomes a gold glover. Have Yelich rob me of hits by crashing into the wall. His defense in the game stinks so I’m not sure how he’s making diving and running into wall plays. Also had a triple play turned on me on a perfect perfect. How.

I do agree with that for sure. And I want to play on my 70 inch tv not my 27 inch monitor. But this game has to be played on a monitor. There’s no way around that. If I didn’t switch I would have quit this game already.

Hitting on Veteran in those 2nd Stage Showdowns are the worst...
-
How are people still complaining about showdown? I’ve gone 6/6 on stage 2 in the past 2 days going from 0-15. I get it that’s not going to be everybody’s experience but every single mission is on veteran, it’s so incredibly easy guys c’mon now.
