Pitch speeds lag

Every time I play someone with any lag this year I can’t catch up to a 95 mph fastball. Why are pitch speeds so different game to game even facing the same exact pitchers ? It doesn’t matter if I’m home team or away. I’ve never had this happen in any year before 20 and it’s so bad I’m not wanting to play online anymore.
I had this problem to the point that I quit more games than I can count when the year started. Turned out, it wasn't lag, it was my TV. I finally figured that out when I upgraded to a monitor.
My record will never recover, but that's been working to my advantage. Everyone thinks I'm awful at the game now

Has nothing to do with a monitor. Like the OP stated, sometimes you play games where there’s a lag of pitches (or swinging as I see it) where you’re timing up what you see on your screen, but always behind it.

Actually, it has a lot to do with the monitor. But, as someone who experienced it daily and found a solution, I'll take my word over arguing with you.
You see, the show has insane refresh rates and maxes out the PS4's capabilities, as they are preparing for next gen console next year. If your TV is not able to handle that refresh speed, it keeps up as long as it can, then "resets" the image.
Two things happen.
1: The ball isn't where you think it is
2: When the picture resets the ball jumps forward, giving the appearance of lag, when in reality the picture just reset itself to catch back up.
-
It’s not on my end, I have a monitor and win 4/5 games online. I can play on HOF/legend without lag and never have a problem catching up to any pitch. It’s 100% in the coding or opponents internet when it happens. Just trying to get others opinions on which it is.
-
I have the same issue, sometimes the same pitchers FB or sinker comes in at 150 as opposed to 98 or whatever. I had this happen w oswalt and it was insane, I could swing as soon as he released ball and couldn’t touch it. The game before I played oswalt in the same division (both opponents) and lit him up. There is a variation in pitch speeds wether lag related or faulty coding as far as the division, I’m not sure and we probably won’t ever know. I just wonder if both parties experience the same elevated speeds or if it just handicaps one player

You are so clueless it actually hurts my head.

I couldn't agree more.

If you want to make out, just ask. It's called motion lag, google it, then we can kiss.

Yeah I might have to turn messages on and start asking my opponents. It’s just like you’re saying though that the balls coming in so fast you can’t catch up no matter what and feels and looks like 120. I wish this is one post that I could get a SDS response and see if they know.

The back to back oswalts in same division is how I knew it wasn’t in my head. Mix in a dif pitcher or rank and I would never know for sure, but I do now without a doubt know something is up. This motion lag sounds most likely the issue, is there a way to mitigate it, or can happen anytime you match w someone far away or who has WiFi or weak internet ?
-
I agree, Oswalt is the most noticeable when this happens to me. To the guy who solved his problems with the monitor - did you not know like 90% of us on this forum are on one as well? Congratulations on your purchase.
-
Ive got the same problem. I just stopped playing the game. Unless someone have a solution
-
I've got the same issue. What I can tell you is that I've never had this issue and I've been playing online since 17, and until this January on a tv with no game mode. A few weeks ago I went back to 19 and had no issue at all. I had no issue this year until patches 1.04 and 1.05.
So if it's my internet or tv, it's only a factor in this specific version of the show. Beyond that your guess is as good as mine.

I believe it’s internet based as well. It could also be ping related when you’re playing someone further away. I play on a 1 ms BenQ monitor 90% of the time. I’ll play events on all star/ HOF on my tv and I’m rarely late on many pitches. I make World Series and go 12-0 every year. It’s just some games I can’t catch up to most pitches no matter what I do and that’s the whole point of this post. It doesn’t happen every game or even that often, but when it does it’s impossible to play.

I’ve also never experienced it this severe in other versions of the game, I think w the faster speeds and smaller timing windows when it happens it’s super noticeable. It’s really a pretty big issue
-
So..... Not sure if this works or not, but it seems to help me. When you get into the pitcher selection screen move your selection up and down as fast as u can if there is delay there seems to be lag. When it moves like your choosing an pitcher in an offline game with no delay it feels to me there is less lag in the game and I feel I hit better. Maybe its just me but it seems to work. ️️

Yep, I hate to keep bringing it up, and if it was just me I wouldn't. But enough people are having this problem that there has to be something to it beyond telling everyone to get a monitor.

100% agree, I also have never had this problem before 20 and have been playing competitively since 16 online. Maybe someone has a solution or SDS responds.
-
I’ve experienced this as well. Those lag games almost feel as if your swinging a bat underwater and then you start over reacting and are very early. It even seems to happen sometimes in the middle of a game. Youll be in the 4th for example you’ve been catching up just fine then all of a sudden your late on any kind of fastball.

That will only tell you if you’re the home team. I could be the home team 100% of the time if I quit out of that menu every time I’m not at home. I’ve had this problem both on the road and at home which is the part that baffles me. Before this year your solution would work 100% of the time and I never had bad home games. That’s why I do t understand what could be happening just in 20.
