Josh Gibson card is criminal
-
The guy who holds the record for highest career batting average, highest single season batting average, highest career OPS, highest single season OPS, highest career slugging percentage, and 800+ career homeruns, and his only maxed out hitting attributes at Parallel V would be clutch and power vs RH.
And despite Gibson being known for having a cannon behind the plate, none of his defensive attributes are higher than 80.
There is a strong case to be made for Gibson being the best baseball player in history, yet his best card in this game isn’t usable.
SDS: If you’re going to put out cards like this Josh Gibson then tell Bob Kendrick to tone it down in those videos because his telling of their stories and your product aren’t aligning.

Dude, Carter Jensen has significantly better hitting stats than Willie Mays.
Sadly, the disrespect towards legends is at an all time high, whilst SDS' care factor is at an all time low.
-
Does it make that noise when he hits the ball square this year?

Jensen is my starting C tbh 72 speed and great hitter

It's useable. It may not be Meta but he is still one of the top 3 Catchers in the game.
No, I am not saying his ratings are correct or fair. I am not defending SDS because you will find that I complained just a few days ago about Polanco being a better hitter in game than Mays.
What I push back on this constant talk about how players are "unusable" if they are not meta. If you choose not to use them then fine. Throw in the new Contreras Card or Cal Raleigh if you have to have a switch hitter.

@NotesOfJohn_PSN
You are tooting my horn John. I agree completely. -
The Negro League content has been pretty sus this year. John Don's hitting stats on his 99, Smokey Joe not having outlier on his fastball, they removed four guys (including two of my favorites in Dihigo and Rube Foster). Overall, the cards are good enough to use as a theme team for fun (that is, once they release more).
-
Nope. He’s unusable. Why would anyone who is competing to win use Gibson?
-
@NotesOfJohn_PSN I agree. It is disrespectful.
If it were me, I wouldn’t give them permission to use Josh Gibson after they did him like this. His card may not even be in the top ten of best catchers. It is a travesty.
-
Outside of Mackie and John Don, the negro leagues players never get super usable players.
Don't let the arm strength stop you though - you cannot throw people out with any consistency in this game. Defense at catcher means nothing (unless you really struggle to hit, so you need to win games with small ball...but thats not really how any decent player operates)
-
@xRatedGProdigyx_PSN I love doing this end game to just keep things interesting sadly don’t think that will be happening this year since there putting all them behind headliners.
-
They couldnt even give Campanella maxed pop time and throwing
-
It’s the same card every year lol

YES!

You don’t even have to hit it square, any contact makes that obnoxiously loud crack
