    Maybe I am just in a funk but here is how my last two games went. Maybe I was just playing much worse than normal but while I have gone into extra innings before I have not been no hit.

    These games were conquest games played on Veteran with my Cardinals squad.

    Both these games ended the exact same way. Ozzie starts the inning on 2nd in extras, steals third and scores on an errant throw that goes into LF. Both times I just shut down the game and could not bring myself to play more.

    Here is a pitch log for 69 OVR Sam Bachman from the first game

    And here are all of the 1st inning pitches from 76 OVR Anthony Kay in the second game.

    For all my complaints about content, I think this is the bigger reason why I haven't enjoyed this year and have probably put less than 20 hours into it since inning 2 ended.

    Obviously not all innings are like this and generally you will eventually get some pitches to hit, but it just feels like I have to take multiple pitches every at bat and when I force 3-2 counts its often some low sinker or outside slider that leads to bad contact.

    Or my favorite, the outside slider where I have the tiniest button tap but my batter does the absurd lunge so I cant get a checked swing.

    I have found that playing this year’s game, I am better off playing Conquest on Veteran or All Star because I get better putches to hit. I guess the days of padding your stats on Rookie are over. I also have noticed that playing the event on AS the pitches are slower than it is on AS Co-op. That may be due to the pitchers in the event are Bronze but that shouldn’t make the pitches be slower.

    The recent lack of hittable pitches online has sapped enjoyment. I week or so ago I won a game in extras by scoring 5 runs on 1 hit playing at HR derby stadium. It was either All Star or HOF in mini seasons. I am not what you would call patient at the plate either.

    Very unsatisfying 5 runs.

    Problem is that this was on veteran.

    Yep. I played 5 games last night without a homerun. I always play all star but tried one on veteran to see if I’d see a difference - but no. All year I’ve known the main thing keeping me back in this game is that I’m wired to swing at every pitch. I try to tell my self to expect balls and don’t swing by default unless the pitch changes my mind but it’s easier said then done. Even when I’m getting to 3-2 counts, that “good” pitch never comes. Whether I’m hitting the first pitch or 3-2 pitch I’m making lousy contact because I’m hitting a terrible pitch. Usually way outside the zone. I’ve seen people saying lately that cpu pitching is somehow tied to where you anchor your pci as the batter but I’m not sure I’m seeing that. I do anchor my pci to wherever the pitch release for the pitcher would be. I’m not sure how that would explain how I’m not getting thrown many hittable pitches. At least it shouldn’t have anything to do with it. Like many things in this game; I don’t know exactly what the problem is, but I play it enough to be able to point out when something is off. As for the events or online - I’m awful at it. I get thrown garbage the whole game and it’s not fun for me. It legit feels like every game I ever played online is moonshot event against me.

    Conquest games are like pulling teeth this year, excruciating. CPU pitches unless you get to the 4th inning.

    Ball, ball, ball, borderline strike, dot, strike 3 on a dot rinse and repeat so the person playing can waste as much time as possible.

    I use to love playing Conquest but this mode is awful now

    Yep the CPU pitching is unbelievably bad and worse in modes like conquest where rewards are attached. It’s not just on low difficulty either as I’ve played on all levels and seen it baked into every one of them. Can’t just be a coincidence to see it so often.

    I saw someone say they believe SDS ramps up online difficulties during big releases and as much as that's probably fanciful, it feels like it at times.

    As a 2K refugee, and granted i was a far better 2K guy than i am The Show guy, I could smash the CPU on most difficulties without paying attention yet there are times on The Show where i can win comfortably on HoF, then go hitless and lose on rookie.

    The RNG is a real issue, as is common/bronze pitchers painting corners on rookie.
    Just shouldn't happen and makes for a frustrating gameplay experience.

    @NotesOfJohn_PSN

    That’s exactly it. The modes and difficulties play very differently depending way too much on RNG and pitcher confidence. Rookie should play like rookie and goat should play like goat but that just isn’t the case. There is basically zero consistency.

    I’ve posted this before but I’ll repeat:

    Madden gets the “difficulty levels thing” right. Rookie plays like rookie. The CPU is absolutely clueless. You score so many points that you are encouraged to move up levels as you gain confidence.

    SDS gets it wrong. There is no difference in levels in The Show except for pitch speed. Same gold glove fielders, same 70 rated pitchers dotting. So, you’re not encouraged at all to move up.

    What SDS needs to do is to simply put higher rated players on the teams instead of tweaking the sliders. This will increase the “difficulty” within a level without all the shenanigans we currently have.

    @capardo_XBL

    Exactly and if new players try the game on rookie and get dotted up by common pitchers or robbed of hits by ridiculous sliding plays and/or cannon arms on common fielders they will just walk away. That doesn’t motivate players to get better it simply invites them to leave and never come back.

    @Teak2112_MLBTS Man I uninstalled this mess at AS break, genuinely not sure how people can still play this stale mess.

    For me the key is playing sporadically. I play when I get the urge to play. I don't force myself. I don't feel like I have to complete everything.

    I may jump into a conquest map, play 3 games and then stop for the day (or sometimes the week)

    The games that sparked this thread were an anomaly for me. I am not usually that inept. The game before these two I beat the Dodgers 5-0.
