Diamond Dynasty already has a “Generate Best Squad” feature and a great set of player filters, but I think combining those two features would be a major quality-of-life improvement.

When building a squad, allow us to apply filters first and then select “Generate Best Squad Using Current Filters.”

For example, if I filter my inventory by Texas Rangers, I could hit Generate Best Squad and the game would automatically build the best possible legal lineup, bench, rotation, and bullpen using only Rangers players that I currently own.

This could also work for Series filters such as Pipeline, Hall of Fame, Awards, Topps Now, etc., as well as other available filters.

This would make creating theme teams much faster and would also be extremely helpful when building squads for programs, missions, and stat requirements. Players could generate the filtered squad first and then manually adjust individual cards if a particular mission requires it.

The game already has both systems — player filters and Generate Best Squad — so allowing Generate Best Squad to respect the currently selected filters seems like a natural addition.

Great idea! Would be very nice for setting a lineup for certain missions.

@Pergo_MLBTS Exactly. Missions are probably one of the biggest uses for it. Filter by whatever the mission requires, hit Generate Best Squad, and then make any small adjustments you need. It would save a ton of time.

Actually saw this earlier and also thought it was a good idea. Passed it on to the team for sure.

One other thing I’d add: this should work with multiple filters at the same time. For example, Rangers + Switch Hitters, Live Series + Switch Hitters, or any other combination of the existing filters. Whatever filters are currently active would define the eligible player pool, and Generate Best Squad would build the best possible squad from those cards.

What if the combinations of filters does not build a pool of players to fill every position?

How would it handle pitchers if you chose hitting filters?

I like the idea but there are some potential sticking points to think about.

@Dolenz_PSN Good questions. I think the filters should only apply where they’re relevant. So if I chose Rangers + Switch Hitters, the switch-hitting requirement would apply to position players, while the Rangers filter would still apply to both hitters and pitchers.

If the selected filters don’t provide enough eligible players to complete a legal squad, the game could simply tell you which positions can’t be filled and let you either adjust the filters or choose to fill the remaining spots with the best available players.

I definitely agree there are some edge cases, but I think they’re pretty manageable. The main idea would still be that Generate Best Squad uses the current filtered player pool wherever possible.

I ask because I am thinking about trying to implement it into the Web site that I created and gave people access to. It already has a pretty robust search engine and even has the ability for you to customize the weighted ratings.

I have been brainstorming it with ChatGPT and since the program doesn't have access to players inventories it would create the squad and also give 2 or three alternatives for each choice (If there are enough).

Or even a filter for teams, perhaps.

@Dolenz_PSN That’s awesome. Honestly, that sounds really close to what I had in mind. Generating the best squad from the filtered pool and then giving a few alternatives for each spot would be really useful, especially if the site already has customizable weighted ratings. I’d definitely be interested in trying it if you end up building it.
