@WahHill627_XBL I cannot really say that. This game is hard man! Putting in the time does make you better yes. But even all the time may never make someone good enough to compete for world series consistently. Those awards evade most players even with the time put in.

The players above world series is more then time and grit. Its a whole nother god given skill level. Or they play 10 hours a day and thats how to become great. Not many people have that time.

To me, its time put into the game.

I think it is a combination of time and effort. How much do you play and how seriously you take it when you do play.

There are casuals who put 100s of hours into the game and never care about their online ranking or whether they can beat the CPU on Hall of Fame.

On the flip side there are others who play much less than that and take it a whole lot more seriously

I get it, there is no real way to define what casual means. It seems it has a different meaning to everyone depending how they play.

@SpawnOfDitka_XBL yes I can’t hit on all star😂 but whoever I’m playing can idk I’m also out hitting everybody I play there just getting the lucky blasts I’m pretty p’d off and more embarrassed I’m in high 400s now I’m going back in the god squad and gonna try and move back up. The rng also feels other wordley rn.

Edit: what is up with this game rn rly just loaded into a game went down 4-0 in the second inning in the 400s im usally a 800-900 player and i just quit this is ridiculous my down fall needs to be studied.

@Onix_Savage22_PSN omg 😲 lol. Funny but its not funny. Yes the rng is other worldly right now no doubt about it. You should be able to hit on all star no problem! Same with me.

I have a theory. You know how in nba 2k you have to perfectly green light it to make a shot. I think the new idiotic new management team at sds is incorporating that to a large degree here now. If you are not almost perfectly squaring up the ball you are not getting a hit anymore. They have applied it to offline and online.

So many issues with this game and game play now. Disgusting

We probably can't all agree on exactly why we dislike this game so much this year. For me it was the non action (and even open deceit to your face) related to cheating and the WBC glitch/exploit. There are so many better things to spend my time on. SDS - you owe me a refund and should all feel ashamed for what you've done this year.

Take your sassy lefty and shove it up your grind 99

    @abulargent_MLBTS

That one was a big one for me too. I will keep repeating myself that by not acting against those who exploited the glitch the only players who were punished were those who did not take part in the exploit. It also sends the message that everyone should exploit the next glitch because SDS won't act on it.

Number 2 for me is the sheer number of pack cards I have had to purchase just to try and keep up with my Cardinals theme team. I would still like to pick up 6 more cards but even with a million stubs I can't afford them all (and I am not even including Pujols). That tells me that as a casual player who does not devote all my gaming time to The Show that they are pushing me away. As long as everyone values switch hitters then they are always going to make Berkman, Simmons, McGee hard to get

@SpawnOfDitka_XBL I think your calling the bottom 95-99% of players casual is a bit too far. I think I would put that rating threshold closer to 700. For me, if you can handle HoF online, you're not a casual.

As someone who thinks of themselves as being quite good on all-star (beat two 1000 banners today), and someone who plays a lot, I feel plain silly when I have to play on HoF. Starting 5-0 in the last weekend classic put me in world series though so now my highest rank for next WC is 700 even though I've never won a game on HoF. Can't wait.

The casual vs hardcore is an interesting debate. IMO it has very little to do with skill level. While higher skill can increase personal engagement, you can still fall into either category, regardless of skill.

Causal gamers pick up a game to kill time or briefly entertain themselves. They don't care about the result and when the itch to play has been scratched, they move on. Minimal investment, no commitment.

Hardcore gamers require investment and commitment. They put the time in, they look for outside resources to research (better hitting/pitching, roster building, etc.) and they strive for the results to be shown. Chasing set personal goals in a game would also fall under the hardcore umbrella (collecting everything, being highly ranked, specific performance thresholds). They also care a lot more, especially when they feel they are being cheated out of expected results.

In this case particularly, when a game or developer puts the player in a position where they feel as if both are literally working against them to achieve what they want to(bugs, paywalls, ridiculous matching, etc.), than the hardcore player base begins losing interest and moving on.

Meanwhile the casual gamers have already moved on because they couldn’t care less and just want to play something that when you press this button, this happens as expected. MLBTS certainly is not that.

To an extent. Different games have different learning curves. I made WS using a gold lineup the first season of the first year (2017) I really played DD. I was a top solo player in PUBG very early and still have the screen shots of my top ranking. As a legit player I struggle to get kills now because everyone is John Wick. You don't just "magically" become good at a video game 6 months+ into it unless you just didn't play much early or now you have devices to help you.

Unless you have a specialized game I have always been if the opinion that you should not cater too much to the top 10% or the bottom 10% of players and instead focus on the middle 80% to keep the most fans engaged.

@MattySpence503_PSN good points. In that case I should change the headline to they are scaring all players away.

@SpawnOfDitka_XBL just faced a ws banner in 500s what has this game come to I’m literally stuck in the high 5 low 6 hundreds im a shell of my former self.

I’m right around 900 right now and my opponents average 15 runs a game, so it comes down to if I happen to be able to outscore them.

The last guy I lost to had 14 perfect perfects. Pretty sure that is not possible without cheating.

It’s whatever. I don’t even care if I lose or about pitching. I just like to hit the ball haha.

@Apolloz_99_MLBTS Late here, but that's because they are. Something like 87%-88% of the player base is 600 or under. I posted the breakdown in an older thread here somewhere.

That is what makes this game fun or addicting. You are always chasing that feeling of being in the zone crushing everything. Similar to golf or real baseball.

Go through slumps too changing your approach and everything just like the real sport. That is the best part of this game.

@SpawnOfDitka_XBL rng or u feel the people on the other side are flipping a switch at the snap of a finger to get the W. I’ve had way to many leads this year and more times then I can even count have literally said out loud this ain’t gonna last he’s gonna turn it on and lone behold he does everytime.

That is true. Along with the connection changing the timing windows and how the pci moves in the zone from game to game haha.

Still tough to beat the feeling of swinging the bat well.
