Let's Talk No Sell Offline Rewards. Are there any pros for the players
-
Okay, we all know that 95% or more of offline rewards are No Sell, with the notable exceptions being Diamond Quest cards and, I believe, one Showdown. Both those instances favor higher skilled players playing on higher difficulties.
I think that probably 99% of the playing population hates No Sell Rewards. I am not sure who the other 1% are but I am sure they are out there.
-
Offline Players - The "No Sell" rewards give offline players very few ways to earn stubs simply by playing. You have to rely on Pack luck. And let's face it, that is the whole point of SDS implementing it - fewer stubs.
-
Online Players - It forces online players to players to play offline modes since they can't buy these cards on the market. We know there are many online players who hate this.
But I also want to put it out there for SDS that for some players, like myself, it kills a lot of motivation to play the game. Why is that?
Let's look at the HOF Program, I did the moments and got 97 Beltran for my Cardinals theme team. What is enticing me to finish the program?
- 5200 XP - I am only half way to the boss pack in inning 5. This is not gong to make a dent.
- 2 Ballin is a Habit Packs - My pack luck so far tells me this is not much of an incentive.
- Andruw Jones - Great Looking card but I would never use him.
So where is my incentive to play. I'll do the conquest because that is one of my main game modes and it actually does have some decent pack rewards but it is still not enough to get me Jones.
So why should I finish this program? What is my incentive? If I could have sold Jones then I probably would have finished it quickly to try and sell that card (I need 400K for McGee)
Why should I do the spotlight programs if I don't want any of the cards and there is a good chance that the lightning cards wouldn't be used if I earn them?
Now, I am not saying that No Sell cards are completely worthless. The 2026 Rare Choice Pack at the end of the All Star Game program where you are guaranteed a rare round card is a perfect example of a No Sell Reward that I am fine with. It got me Jordan Walker without the need to spend 50k to 60k on it (current price)
So what are others thoughts on this? Are No-Sell rewards only a benefit to SDS? Are there benefits to the players that I am not seeing?

I am 100% in agreement with you. In general, if it’s in my Inventory, I should be able to sell it. Regardless of item (as you point out, there can be extremely rare exceptions).
I have an Inventory full of uniforms that I’d love to sell or quick sell.
Being able to sell anything and everything is a change that is LONG overdue.
-
I don't think you're missing anything. No-sell seems like a massive L for everyone in almost all cases.
-
Yeah it’s clearly a way to minimize offline players from making stubs by selling cards they don’t want or need and forcing online players to play modes they don’t like strictly to complete collections.

@Dolenz_PSN Man I sold Simmons at 55k trying to get Ohtani to close Pujols, now that card is at like 270k, ugh.
Not to mention McGee and Berkman pushing 170k plus. This is one of my many problems with this game, I work and have a life so I cant play 24/7 like a lot of these posters.

I agree. No sell rewards are annoying...but not as annoying as when you get dupes of no sells. I can't recall who it was, but I got him as a choice reward twice- first time I did need it....here's the kicker: I had two choices, and only needed the other guy to finish the program, so I HAD to pick someone else as well.

100% agree, it benefits SDS, it keeps rare cards rare to where whales are the only ones able obtain them. It keeps NMS people or people who spend very little from them. It screws the other 95% of the player base. If its in our inventory we should be able to sell them.

As I said, it is obvious what SDS' goal here is. They have been heading down that path for a while.
What got me was looking at the HOF program and asking myself where the incentive was to grind missions (does not matter how hard or easy they are) to complete the program simply to earn a card that I don't plan to use and can't sell. So, what's the point?
