Is Newhouser the new go to mid game reliever?

Not here.. I don't bring a starter out of the pen unless I've exhausted all relief options in extra innings, I'm not about that. I watched a top player use all 5 of his starters last night in a game I just shook my head.
Preach!

SDS could help the problem by making relievers more usable. I’m tired of having fresh relievers face one batter then be in yellow energy. So then I have to face two batters when he’s tired with the new 3 batter minimum rule.

That is probably events or BR and yes it can be frustrating. Especially considering there is no tried and true method of getting your pitcher to warm up effectively. I've had more success selecting a pitcher to warm up and then immediately putting him in the game that letting him warm up during my hitting half of an inning.
The issue is we're not held to a schedule. Nor do we have to look our virtual Kluber in the eye and tell him to suck it up and he'll pitch whenever he's told like a good boy.
It's just another classic case of a stupid few ruining a good thing for everyone else. IMHO starting pitchers should be locked after picking one and the ability to use an opener needs to be squashed.
Only after all RP have entered the game should any other SP be selectable, or you can use a position player.

My bullpen blew every game for me yesterday. I just might be done using them. Hell, I had one guy use Kluber, Newhouser, and Pearson in that order while I was foolishly using my pen.

Game after game everyone goes to him
I have him and haven't used him once in relief. I have used Ohtani who is my number 5 several times. Have to when you throw HR derby.
-
If I start a righty like os or Kluber and my opponent is stacked lefties, and he’s lit up my rh starter I’ll pinch hit in the third and go to newhouse. That’s about it, otherwise it’s my pen as they have more dynamic stuff

The issue is that the confidence of starters takes a lot longer to go down. A reliever can throw two balls or give up a hit and he’s basically done. A starter can overcome this.

Lol I had a guy use Kluber, Newhouser, Oswalt in the same game. It’s [censored] ridiculous

Wondering if people that do this are on the verge of ranking up and dont want to risk an L using their pen? I think it ultimately hamstrings you next game or 2 if they dont perform well so definitely a big risk.
I'm more annoyed with Newhousers stamina. Like I get these older pitchers threw a ton but to have 40% stamina left after 100+ pitches is ridiculous. Pretty much negates any reason to work counts outside of hoping they throw you a meatball (which I suck at hitting to begin with)

Exactly! When a guy uses Kluber for 4 innings, Newhouser for 3 innings and Oswalt for 2 innings, their stamina is basically full for almost every game as long as you just adjust the order of the pitchers. You can basically string those 3 pitchers in any particular order in every single game because their stamina regens so fast

This. I mean if you have never reached 700 before and you are at 690. I could see people doing this just to reach that peak. Yes, they could be in trouble the next few games. Same if you are at 895. Might as well treat it like game 7 of the ws.
Definitely needs adjusted if people can do this every game.

If I get down to 2-3 relievers I may use a starter. Not a whole lot of faith in my pen tbh

My pen is pretty terrible. I don't have a lot of options but I use them first mostly. If I get into a extended game where we are hitting like 14 innings and I've used a good number of relievers, I'll bring in my 4th/5th starter for sure.
Although with the 3 inning rule, you go through relievers much slower this year

Started Maddux in an RS game last night. Cruising thru 5 until he was forced out after taking a Mookie Betts perf/perf comebacker off the nose. Brought in Kluber to finish the 1-0 shutout dub (thanks Trout!). Only chose him over Hal cuz my opponent started Kloobs and was killing me lol. Typically, tho, I'd play it straight and go to the pen.
