Grant Taylor
-
Is this an online thing because I've faced him in the mini season and didn't notice anything. Just curious.
-
Ah oh now we're seeing the other side again. ANOTHER glitched pitcher, but SDS is refusing to communicate or do anything about this again. Why? Well because this DOES NOT affect SDS. It only affects players, but hey at least it's just the wined up delivery that's glitched. He's still hittable and in the stretch he is BP. Just don't watch the pitcher like normal focus at the shoulder because that's where the ball in his delivery spawns from.
-
…..SDS is refusing to communicate….
Roll back about ten posts

@sds_joek_psn Dustin May had this problem recently too, I know he’s likely to get a diamond card soon. Please have the team look into him as well
-
Hasn't Dustin May been like that since at least '23?
-
Well because this DOES NOT affect SDS. It only affects players
If it affects the people that play our game, it affects us, and we understand that.
The team is working very hard on a number of issues that are of concern to the community -- Grant Taylor, Hader/King, and many others.
It's been a while since I've said this, and it bears repeating: Sometimes circumstances make it easier for us to give updates on these things and sometimes they don't. But please don't take a lack of public updates to mean that nothing is being done.
These things can take time and require a lot of internal coordination -- Making the team aware of an issue, being able to reproduce it and find a fix, testing and implementing that fix, and messaging out the fix are all important parts of the process and have to be considered.
Just to offer some friendly insights here.
In this case (Grant Taylor), I can say that this does seems to be a bug and the team is looking into it. I'll keep everyone updated appropriately as much as possible.
Thanks!

@SDS_JoeK_PSN Thank you JoeK for an update. I long ago did a research project in college on software engineering and testing. I know how much goes in to design and test, so thanks for letting the public hear that!
-
@SDS_JoeK_PSN Thanks, Joe. I really appreciate the context and the transparency here.
I wish more people understood that a lack of public updates doesn’t mean nothing is happening behind the scenes. There’s obviously a lot that goes into identifying, reproducing, testing, fixing, and communicating these issues.
Thanks for continuing to bridge the gap between the community and the team. Please don’t let the louder negative comments get to you. Plenty of us understand the time, staffing, budgets, and testing involved, and we appreciate the work you and the team are putting in.
It’s still a great game that a lot of us (even the folks complaining) are playing every day.
-
Don't get me wrong -- those negative comments can be important too in many ways!
My intention here certainly isn't to write people who have negative opinions (I know that's not what you're suggesting here).
It's understandable -- there's a lot of negative happening. There are also a lot of people that feel like we're ignoring certain things, and while I can understand that too, I just wanted to throw out a little context that hopefully shows, for what it's worth, that those issues aren't being ignored.
I know that won't land for everyone and that's totally ok.

Anything about cheaters? They have to know this is a huge issue. IMO, cheaters do way more harm than a king/hader/taylor (although I agree they should definitely be fixed as well) glitch.
I know people want to bury their head in the sand when it comes to cheaters but all online games are infested. I do think since they are connected to the consoles, it should have been handled by Sony/Microsoft years ago. They should have never put this on the game devs in the first place but here we are. Very few games are actually doing anything about it. Back in the day GTA placed cheaters in their own servers.
-
@SDS_JoeK_PSN I totally get that. I’ve had a few issues myself earlier this year, but support got back to me and everything ended up being okay.
And I agree, negative feedback is important. There’s just a difference between negative comments and completely unhinged comments. These forums usually aren’t too bad, but if you go over to X, some of it is just impossible to take seriously.
Maybe it’s because I’m older and have been in the corporate world longer than a lot of these folks have been alive, but I get that there’s always more happening behind the scenes than people realize.
-
@go4stros25_PSN lol, you're funny. thinking they'd do that after how many years. I'd just be happy if they'd acknowledge there is a problem.
Also, you do complain alot, lol, but so do a many on here, my apologies for going personal. I should not have gone there. Will i argue with you in the future absolutely. Ill keep it as civil as civil can be.

-
@LIONED-33_XBL I appreciate your apology. Im just having fun on here, nothing said here could ever make me feel insulted in the slightest. If someone truly annoys me, I just block them.
I apologize if I offended you as well. Its the internet man. Its fun to [censored] and moan about the game. This is a place where we all come together in mutual love and disdain for a game that we've all spent way to much time playing.
Truth is we are all childish for being here, but here we are.
-
@D_e_m_I_s_E_MLBTS -- Rest assured, no one is burying their heads in the sand when it comes to cheaters.
Without going into detail, we've tried some things and seen some improvement when it comes to cheating and bots. There's still a lot of work to be done, but our data shows us that we're making progress there.
It's worth noting that when it comes to cheaters, you should expect fewer updates because we don't want to give any clues that might help them evade punishment either now or in the future.
-
Since you’re in a talkative mood today, I’m sure many are wondering as well about the exploiters? Since SDS said they were going to be doling out punishments, it seems to have just been lip service. While we know you can’t share what precisely was done, as a community, we know nothings been done since the offenders aren’t going crazy on socials about their punishment. At this point, they’re mainly just laughing at everyone.

That sounds promising. I do understand keeping a lid on it. Appreciate the update.

@SDS_JoeK_PSN imagine if these guys creating the game actually played their own game once in a while. Wouldn't that be crazy? I can probably create a list of 100+ things that need to be fixed in this game, are most of them minor-yes but still they should be fixed. Some of these things have been in the game for years without being fixed and I'm sure next year we will complain about the exact same things that haven't been fixed.
-
@sds_joek_psn I think this is the biggest thing is transparency. It's alot easier for us the player base, to rest easy knowing things are being done. Hader/King/Taylor, yes we know there is known issues, we are trying to figure them out. OR These issues unfortunately cannot be fixed this game cycle, we are going to do our best to make sure they are fixed before the next game cycle.
That would make people feel better.
Whats going on with the WC players who were to get packs for the server issues, i've submitted a ticket requesting those packs as i never got them.
What about the exploiters? Or was that tweet just a scare tactic? You literally have content creators calling names and pushing every button, but nothing happens. However, if say @go4stros25_psn and myself have a heated convo on the forums we get a ban. So exploit = ok, making fun of SDS = ok, but no arguments on the forums or here is a ban....i get there are trolls on here, and it gets frustrating for SDS, but there are players who love MLB and want a good game, we are also intelligent enough to know things happen. The silence from SDS is the maddening part. Say what you want about 2k, and EA, but they keep their players informed. We can't talk about them is not an answer, working as intended not an answer. Just be honest.
-
@ryguy034753_XBL
Correct. Obviously, there are bugs within their base code. Debugging their skeleton code, and coding a fix with each issue, would be a monumental task that Sony will not support. You basically need to build a new game from scratch. Since that is not realistic with their limited resources, SDS has to build on top of their (bugged) base code every year. It's like having a Lego tower that has problematic pieces within the base. You cannot just replace those pieces, without collapsing some other pieces built on top of it.
Even with the annual issues, I still enjoy the game and think SDS has done a fantastic job providing interesting content and solid online H2H gameplay.
-
@LIONED-33_XBL -- There's a lot to unpack here, but there are two especially relevant things for this conversation:
- We have to balance transparency and managing expectations and that can be tricky for a number of reasons.
That said, it's something we talk about a lot, including ways we can improve.
- I'm glad you asked for some clarity on this:
So exploit = ok, making fun of SDS = ok, but no arguments on the forums or here is a ban....
In the context of what happens here on the forums and how those things relate to the forums rules...
-
Talking about an exploit, as long as you're not talking about how to do it (potentially encouraging other to break ToS), is generally fine.
-
"Making fun of SDS" or more broadly, criticizing the game, is also generally fine, as long as it doesn't get personal where you're calling out or insulting members of our team OR other members of the forums specifically/by name. Making it personal is where we draw the line.
-
In your example from earlier today, first of all, I commend you and @go4stros25_psn for burying the hatchet, apologizing to each other, and moving on. Good on you both.
The only reason I locked the other thread is as I said -- it started out being focused on an issue that is now resolved and it was beginning to devolve into a back and forth. Simple as that and no big deal.
As I've said, we welcome you all to debate passionately and kindly as long as it doesn't cross the line and begin to get personal or otherwise break the forum rules.
It's also worth noting that the examples I've listed above as well as the forum rules themselves are always subject to change.
