CPU is obnoxious
-
Yet, there's all these posts that go "why is CPU so good!!!" What?
It's almost as if people have different skill levels and play styles.
-
That’s all I mean. The CPU is not difficult but annoying. The player attributes don’t play at all as common players should not be making diving plays like Ozzie Smith or dotting up the strike zone like Greg Maddux. It happens way too often, even on lower difficulties, which makes it ridiculous.
If it’s a platinum defender or Cy Young winner on HOF or Legend then I can at least rationalize it. But when it’s a 55 with terrible speed and defense or pitcher with awful control it makes no sense and just feels like ratings don’t matter at all when controlled by the CPU.

Some these defensive plays the cpu is making are freaking unreal ridiculous. Outfielders with 25 speed and 50 fielding sprinting towards the left field line from being shifted towards right field diving and making the catch in foul territory in left field is extremely annoying. All in all the cpu I find is pretty easy and gameplay is definitely better. The dots are also annoying I don't even swing at them. If its a strikeout oh well move on to the next batter.

Ill agree wholeheartedly on the web gems - cpu is insane defensively. Defense is too easy in the game, in general - there should be more errors and bad plays, but then everyone would cry "rng made me lose!"
I will agree that Rookie is way harder in this game than any other sports game. But, the reason is that batting is very difficult - i feel like there are 1000 people in the world who know how to hit in this game (and Im not one of them).

@Sarge1387_PSN lower fielder reaction time 1 notch to 4, that helped with the superman diving, also raise infield arm strength up 1 notch to 6

I guess my issue is that everyone gets annoyed anytime CPU is capable of winning. Like, do you just never want CPU to have a chance? Is CPU not supposed to be challenging - it's just a grind assistant? As someone who prefers to play offline, this doesn't make sense to me
You’re missing the point. They just need to balance the CPU properly. For me, personally the defence is either OP’d or the ball just always hangs too long. When you’ve got Schwarber running down gappers and diving for liners sinking faster than Amber Heard’s court case vs Johnny Depp, it gets annoying. They’re getting to balls they’ve got no business getting to.
Literally everyone is diving so much I feel like I'm watching a swimming tournament

The CPU is flat out obnoxious to play the vast majority of the time. Between the eagle eyed hitters not swinging at pitches right on or just off the corners, fielders making diving plays and covering way too much ground, and pitchers dotting up the zone like Greg Maddux it can be an extremely annoying grind.
All of this happens even with common players on low difficulty levels which is ridiculous. If they were diamond players on high difficulty I could understand it but that is far from the case. I know it’s by design to make the game “challenging” but it’s super redundant and slows the grind to a snails pace.
Yeah they do this on purpose so don’t expect to to change if anything it’s worse this year

Or play the ball perfectly off the wall and throw a frozen rope to second base to get a 90+ speed guy out of what should be a stand up double.
This exactly pisses me off more than anything else. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been thrown out at 2nd in what should have been an easy double.
-
I don’t think that’ll apply to DD games vs CPU, unfortunately. Good tip otherwise, though

Definitely too many web gems and every edition of this game has had a double play addiction for years.
Still too many "perfect" outs that don't reach the warning track and "good" swing and misses at balls in the strike zone again this year.New frustration this year is that I'm getting blooped to death by the CPU. It's not like I've got Schwarber and Rooker out roaming the outfield either.
