Pitching on all star vs HOF

Personally, I can’t hit the ball on HoF this year. I’ve played since ‘16, use a monitor and usually play the majority of my games in the 800-900 range in years past. I was often found to be using the phrase “all star hell” last year as well and hated it, the game played much better on HoF in my opinion.
This year, it’s just not possible to hit the ball for me. HoF is a lot harder than legend was last year. I can’t hit a fastball up and in from a same handed pitcher, even if I swing as soon as the ball leaves the pitchers hand. If somebody wanted to just spam fastballs up and in, I’d be totally helpless with no defense, because it’s not physically possible to turn it around in the window for swing timing provided. I’ve found myself striking out 15-25 times per game on HoF when it’s particularly bad. I’ve also had the odd game where I’m fine and I’ve scored heavily on HoF but it’s been extremely rare since 1.04.
As an experienced RS player at HoF level (usually play 1500-2000 games each year) the game doesn’t feel like it’s playing as intended. I’ve not struggled like this since I played ‘16 on an old TV with huge input lag. While I’ve never been elite or a particularly good hitter, I literally cannot touch the ball with the bat on HoF this year at times no matter what I do. In my opinion, based on previous experience, something is wrong and not working as intended for that to be the case.I tend to feel the same way, except I'm admittedly a below average hitter. Last year I could get by on HOF but I was far from great, this year I'm having issues catching up to fast balls on all star. The strange thing though, is that some games feel a lot better than others, some games I'll swing as the ball leaves the pitchers hand and it's still in the catchers glove before my swing animation happens.
I don't know what the cause is, or what the answer may be, if any at all (if this is by design so be it I guess), but if you're not an elite hitter this game isnt a lot of fun online right now.

My best guess is it’s caused by the P2P connections. I live in England so with the majority of my opponents being the other side of the world, the issues are commonplace. When I watch streamers based in the USA, they tend to find games instantly when searching, the gameplay looks smooth and they have little trouble with the 200mph unhittable strikes that plague my HoF matchups. It’s literally like everyone else is playing a different game to the game I’m playing.

My era is 0.98 on all-star in RS. Pitching has always been my favorite part of the game and is by far what I’m best at in the show. This year has been frustrating with hung balls but you have to know which pitches have the tendency to move to the middle of the plate. I also use meter and always have
How in the world is your era so low? What rank are you? Everyone I seem to face smashes the ball.
I’m around 580 right now. 29-14 record RS. I usually stop playing ranked once I reach HOF bc I have trouble hitting with my current TV set up. 43 games isn’t the largest sample size and I’ve definitely played sone scrubs. However I’m just trying to say it is possible to pitch well in all star

^this ^. Games played in the same division (both in 600, both in 500, both in 700 etc.) have completely different feels. I’ve played over 100 games this year in ranked and and I can tell
You for sure from one game To the next there is variation with pitch speeds. I faced oswalt back to back , both 600 games one game I was late constantly which was odd to me, everything exploded out of his hand. The next game still in 600, I could see it and react much easier. It was noticeably slower. One game felt like it was on legend and one felt like it was actually on allatar -

Well, I am wired with fiber. I was able to turn on 100 mph fastballs pretty consistently in the HOF event. I played 4 games last night and they went like this:
First 2 games - Could locate pitches, could easily turn on fastballs, no fielding errors, opponents didn't hit anything.
Last 2 games - Completely opposite. Pitches either down the middle or out of the zone. Perfect release pitches put in the zone missing the mark by 2 ft. No chance turning on 100. No rewards when I did make good swings. I couldn't score off Glavine with a guy that was throwing the same pitches over and over. Couldn't even turn on Glavine fb's when I was looking for them. Fielding errors. More weak hits by opponents.

Lmao it just doesn’t end. Another loss after a combined 11 homeruns between the both of us. Lost by a score of 10-8. Pitching is flat out useless you might as well throw out a pitching machine on the mound.

Pitching is worse than hitting, just like 19'. Hangers, meatballs, release point, etc. My ERA is typically sub 3, but this RS, it's almost 5. Sony just needs to sell the franchise to Activision Blizzard. A real company who knows how to develop games.

My era is close to 6 this current season. I know people will say “oh your just not pitching well” or “you are not a good pitcher” But what’s funny is I play guys on HOF and hold them to pretty low scores. I had one bad game on HOF where I gave up 5 runs. That game though probably shouldn’t have even been that high. It only was because on 2 separate occasions dude bunted over Soto and Yelich against the auto shift and followed it up both times with a homerun. I was too ignorant to change my defense that game so I put all of the blame of that game on my stupidity. The other two games both of my opponents only scored one run. The one dude had a 74% win percentage and was still held to one run and something like 5 hits I think. So obviously I’m not that bad at pitching. But if you put me on all star I look like I’m throwing BP

Yeah I have games like that. They’re the ones that make me send SDS angry emails about swing timing windows. Especially vs Ohtani or Pearson on HoF. I have a wired connection with good speeds and bandwidth too.

One of the huge problems is if you get someone to two strikes, they can contact swing and keep pci centered and basically foul off anything even remotely close to the zone. Grind you out until you hang one, happens to me all the time in all-star hell. Most people power swing until two strikes also as the pci is so gigantic. It’s nearly impossible to pitch effectivly.
It’s going to be an outscore as opposed to outpitch in any division below DS -
If you really want to know how bad it is, go look at the top WS players' ERAs.

Pitches are just a lot easier to hit in general. The break on off speed pitches are way less significant then they are on HOF. I think the speeds of the pitches are fine on both HOF and all star but on all star the stuff is just not as good. Pitches miss by about 8 inches on all star and hang way more then they do on HOF. Even with good input it feels like balls aren’t even in the same area code as where they were supposed to go.

Oh I’ve seen them, but I mean those guys are playing against other top guys so it would make sense that they are so high. Those guys just hit everything hence why some of them have batting averages in the .400s. Even good players don’t have averages that high. My batting average this RS is just a little bit above .300 but I’m still putting up at least 8+ runs a game and recording like at least 15 hits every game. I’m normally a CS and WS player and my average every year has been around .285 and my era is around the 3’s. Right now my era is north of 5 and my ba is at .300 so yeah I think that itself should show that there is a pretty big inconsistency.

It’s been like that for years. I get it, WS players typically play this game 3-4 hours a day, so they’re going to have a better eye and control with the stick. At the same time, you would think they would be able to have an ERA under 4. It just shows, SDS Is clueless on how to make pitching better.
