    Hey everyone,

I've been working on getting some additional clarity from the team here. It turns out that non-two-way players cannot have secondary positions after all. Apologies for the confusion on this.

    @sds_joek_psn

I specifically preordered this year after they answered on the Twitch stream that it was available right from the start. We have been asking for this for over 5 years. I and many others noticed that secondary positions were made to work on DD but left RTTS in the cold. This years game absolutely broken and truly feel I was ripped off of my $90. I have serious feeling that sales next year are going plummet especially with RTTS only players like myself.

What an absolute joke of a release this has been. Did the absolute bare minimum and slapped a high price tag on the game.

Same exact bugs from last year in this year. Yea im done.

Anybody remember 2019 where you could just pick your secondary position in the menu at the start? One of these days we'll get back features that were in the game a decade ago.

Anyway, don't know what can even be said that hasn't been said already. There's clearly a complacency at SDS that I don't see ever lifting at this point without major shakeups that they frankly aren't incentivized to make. The fact that it takes nearly three weeks from a question being asked about a feature for an SDS rep to even know what features are in their game pretty much says it all. No fact checking was performed when a dev officially confirmed a feature that was not in the game. Until there is any competition or until they stop making money hand over fist from Diamond Dynasty this is about all we should ever expect.

@SDS_JoeK_PSN can it be added in a patch? I mean how hard can it be. It’s not like you’d have to change any of the cutscene stuff. I would think with this many people wanting it, AND it being said multiple times that it WOULD be in the game, that it should be added in a patch.

I don’t think it even matters honestly. Even if you have a secondary, you’re always just gonna get auto-started in your primary position anyway.

It’s too black and white coding for it to matter. At this point just doing a franchise player-lock career is probably the better move.

You don’t have to see the PS2 quality cut scenes. You can edit other players for when the cpu generates ridiculous looking prospects. More control over brain dead roster moves and lineup decisions. You can wear whatever equipment you want instead of hoping you get lucky enough to get a pair of Nikes.

Just find an editable prospect that has tons of secondaries and you can finally be a utility player in this game.

The sad part that they made such a big thing about how important secondary positions were in DD this year so the code is known. But DD is where they get your $90 then all those juicy micro-transactions every year for stubs.

Folks, I hope you can appreciate this. Joe @ SDS just provided the most clear cut and honest answer to any customer related concern that I have read at this community forum in years. Some may see that as a backhanded compliment, but that is due more to the checkered history we have had here, with most all similar issues ignored or replied to in vague forms.

All that said, let's look at this deeper.

This isn't a simple upgrade. To implement properly in the game, SDS would have to code the game so that in RTTS there would be a mechanism in place to assign your avatar RTTS player to his primary or secondary position. There is a mechanism already coded in the game for two-way players since the alternate fielding position is not played a day before, during, or after being starting pitcher. For other types of players there would need to be a code sequence to track how many days a player played his primary position before playing the alternate position, or even better an option that did it based on injury to other teammates.

This isn't of course an impossible hurdle, not by any means, but it means there is likely no chance of this being done this year. Should it be? Of course, given that the majority of players in MLB do train at secondary fielding positions. Moreover, there should also be a career RTTS option for someone to be a utility player and be a generic outfielder/infielder.

This is the sort of stuff that SDS should have worked on vice create new marketing options. Some will view that as a second backhanded comment, but truth is it is the best advice SDS can get about where they need to focus their attention on. Less marketing and more good old-fashioned coding that makes the game play more faithfully to the real sport.

    @PriorFir4383355_XBL

I agree. It’s pretty disappointing because they did say in the stream we could have secondaries, then doubled down on it again in this same forum post. But I’ve been skeptical about the implementation from the start because:

    1. They quickly answered a live stream question and didn’t mention anything about it otherwise.

    2. It would take a lot more coding than just the basic “pick your secondaries”. The way RTTS is, it forces your player to play every game in the starting lineup, so to have secondaries actually do anything would require them to change that. Just seemed very unlikely for a 2 second answer on a live stream.

But I do hope that the backlash they’ve gotten from this lie is that they actually do something about this and let people have a more flexible career and be able to play multiple positions in future games.

They focused so much on the new sim engine (that is more broke than ever) to allow people to get through a career easier but if we could have more variety in playing all over the field and be a true utility player, that would help how repetitive this mode gets when you’re mid-career more the anything.

Nice reply, but if you look at the backlash SDS got over their years long mishandling, some would say outright malicious handling, of Stadium Creator and how that backlash did nothing to make SC better, then I would frankly say 10 million people telling SDS they are wrong isn't going to make them budge one inch. They have proven how incalcitrant they can be.

Right. I would actually be more surprised if there is a change than if there isn’t. They seem pretty content on putting out essentially the same game over and over again.

There is no way this can be added as a patch, I never expected that it would be a large amount of coding. I’m sorry I’m not going to make any complementary statements to SDS after this disaster and how long it tppk to actually respond.

This is something we have been asking to have added for years. The fact is that players are constantly being ignored for so many years. This years release has so many issues I have lost my desire to even play.

Examples that I’ve experienced so far:
1 Constant Crash to dashboard when attempting a manual save (I refuse to use auto save from past years experience)
2 Token bonus from potential not working

3 Token bonuses from Pitching and hitting coaches not working

4 Player comparisons for promotions being matched with a completely different position. Ex My second baseman in AA was being compared to a third baseman in AAA. Once in AAA I was being compared to a centerfield player

5 Worse than ever late inning comebacks. This has been an issue for years but wow this year it’s astronomical. Ex I was playing CWS top 9 I doubled in RBI score 14-1 and to no-one’s surprise as I’m on 2nd batter struck out. Sim to end to see we lost in bottom 9 14-15. I admit this one made me rage quit

6 As mentioned above the amount of batters striking out if you play your base running opportunities the batters behind will strikeout more than 95%of the time. I did a post with test results from 25 back in late Jan or early Feb

7 RTTS player wearing incorrect cleats intermittently (wrong colors and brand)

8 Sunglasses. I really don’t know where to start with is one. They screwed it up in 25 and it’s still not fixed. It’s a crapshoot if they show up or not

9 Pitcher look. What happened to actually looking at a base runner while holding left trigger? Why was this removed? Was it done on purpose or is it a bug?

10 Ball in the dirt ribbon. New feature added last year when on base, the only time I ever saw it was during the tutorial. Is this still in the game?

There are a few more but I think you get the idea, some are gameplay and some are just bad AI decisions.

i actually like the number 9 change since now you can aim your pitch with the slide step. Before unless i was doing it wrong it would just auto pitch it down the middle for the slide step since you had to hold L2 wich made you face the runner.

But that could have been with just the pitching mode i guess. i dont think that one is a big deal since you have him on camera anyway on the upper right if your screen. I feel its like the token counter, whats the point of watching your token gains count up one by one when the total is already on the top left of your screen.

i mean sometimes that thing takes a min or two to count bc you have like 50 on a great double exp game and its not apart of the loading screen timer. So you have to wait for it to count and count when its already done in the upper left, then when its done you have to wait on the loading screen its like man. I have time to go to the bathroom 😐 but you really dont, bc you have to hit continue for the loading screen after the counter 🐷

Before you aimed the pitch first then pulled trigger for slide step.

No, it would reset to center if you did that. I don't think turn auto centering off was in the game in 25 or lower or i would have found it like i did in 26.

I kinda wana load up older version of the game now to see if im crazy or not 😐 but i feel like im competent enough to have figured that out 😛

I’ve never had a problem, select pitch aim (hold stick in position) pull trigger, either pick off or pitch. That’s the way I’ve been doing since 07 never had an issue with meatballs. If you still have 25 try it. Hope it helps. I want tge view back completely ruins immersion when using the window.

tbh if they brought back what you want i would just adjust with the new non auto center toggle. What pitch mode did you play 25 and prior? i use pulse bc I cbf drawing and doing input timers that could be the reason why re auto centering is a problem for me it just does it in that mode like there are many things diff in each play mode fullgame/dynamic/my plays that you never see in each other.

That might be it, I used to work in a power plant and crushed my thumb closing a railroad car while unloading coal. For that reason I use button classic controls. The original control scheme from the beginning. The left stick can not be moved until pitch or pick off throw is made.
