Lack of big legends
-
@SakAttack87_PSN He has the name value, but he would be at best a Jeter type of reward. Not terrible, but not ideal. I’m still hoping for Arod or Cobb.
-
People keep mentioning that they think Posey will be back this year. I could see it being him maybe with his MVP card. Although as a Cardinals fan I never rooted for him because of all the better catcher debate nonsense (Posey/Molina) I respect how good he was in his prime.
I think the only guys mentioned in game from colleges that have yet to be revealed are Abbot and Posey. Its why Carpenter is back already. Abbot seems like it would be a lot of extra work on SDS's part though.

I am not sure how Cobb rates. He certainly has a name value but who will go out of their way to earn a CF who averaged 6 home runs every 162 games.
-
@Dolenz_PSN True Cobb would be an Ichiro type.

And it's not even that Carlos Beltran is some kind of generational household name, but his skill set simply translates very well to being a meta card in The Show that can justify being the big collection reward. He checks pretty much all the boxes.
Have they ever announced the main collection card prior to the live launch stream? I can't recall.
-
@SakAttack87_PSN I don’t think so.

I think people are treating the Live Series collection like they do the end of year 99s.
Some people expect every new 99 released to be the new meta card and if it's not then it is dismissed as worthless.
Beltran's well rounded attributes and the fact that he was a switch hitter set the bar high. Expecting new collection cards to be as good or better is a trap.
-
@Dolenz_PSN It’s the most expensive card in the game for the entire cycle and it’s not close. It drives stub buying. It does need to be a great card that’s similarly good.

That Pujols card with barely 100 pop on each side will be immediately pushed aside as soon as the first flashback or 90 overall Topps Now Carlos Santana drops. That's just how the game works and how oversaturated 1B is when it comes to one-dimensional power bats.
-
that Pujols card is going to be a MONSTER... people saying that it lacks value because he's not a switch hitter and only plays 1B (but if I recall there were some Pujols cards that had secondary 3B and maybe even LF, I don't know it's been awhile, I don't think I ventured into the trenches of DD heavy since like 23 or 24, I definitely didn't do much with Diamond Dynasty in 25).
If you don't see the value in that Albert Pujols card, because of it lack of positions and the fact that he's not a switch hitter, then you might not be good at this game on a fundamental level... but I'm not going to knock how you put together your team, just don't get mad when some using Albert Pujols hits a no-doubt walk-off HR against you.
-
@jeromesaysword_PSN it is also leaked that the Pujols will have a secondary of 3b and Lf
-
@Onix_Savage22_PSN thanks yeah I just saw the screenshot someone posted here showing 3B as well as LF and RF... so I'm not understanding what people are saying about the card not being good especially as a collection reward
-
@jeromesaysword_PSN I’ve been playing this game since before it was called MLB the Show and I’m a World Series player. No one is saying the card is bad. We’re just saying it’s not worthy of the full collection. It’s not a 3 million+ stub card. He does have the 3B/LF secondaries.

It's not a bad card at all, but why is a returning legend like Pujols who has 700+ career HR barely scraping 100 power on both sides?
If it's going to cost 2M stubs to unlock him, he should and easily could be better.
The last card he ever got in The Show had 125/125 pop with 3B/LF/RF eligibility and was completely FREE.
-
@SakAttack87_PSN 100% agree with this there are only 4 baseball players ever in the 700 homerun club bonds Aaron Ruth and Pujols it is not that this pujols card is bad it’s that for a player on such a elite club that demonstrates other worldly power him not having 120+ power aginst both sides is just a crime
-
@SakAttack87_PSN because there will be a Pujols or multiple Pujols later in the game that are maxed out at 125... shrugs
-
It reminds me of when they finally added Pedro into the game in 21 and his 99 overall card had like 102 H/9.
-
Maybe its meant to be Angels Pujols and the art is wrong...oh wait no the contact is too high for that

I'm really only picking on the Pujols card because it kinda almost guarantees he's not the main collection and they are gonna drop a bomb on the stream in a few hours.
-
@SakAttack87_PSN I think so too. They’ve revealed a lot and you know they are saving something big.
