Anyone else borderline excited/not excited for tonight?
-
I bought it and will be playing at midnight (Ill have koogs on in the background to pass the time) but not overly excited. Have a feeling I won't play as long thru the year.
-
@Easy_Duhz_It__PSN this is exactly how I feel as a die hard baseball fan this is like Christmas and opening day is like new years can’t wait to start fresh and start grinding this game
-
I am extremely excited cause I do feel like sds still has a big legend or 2 in the bag that we don’t know about and I’m extremely excited for the overhaul of wbc stuff and the amount of stuff we are gonna have to do right out of the gate this year
I hope for everyone getting the game that they do have a headliner name to reveal on the launch stream for the big collection. That Pujols card just ain't it.
There is always that honeymoon phase with the game right out the gate. Every diamond pull is huge, tons of content and things to do. The real test for these games is that soft spot from late April until the ASG. That's usually been the telling point for me having had a decent sample size to understand if this is a title I will be playing all year or phase out.
-
This is my 7th DD season and I'll keep going as long as I can (I'll turn 62 this year).
I didn't realize that we were the same age.
I knew that we were. It's because you're old and your memory is going

-
That Pujols card just ain't it.
I realize he was only out of the game for 3 years and that people might not be thrilled with a first baseman since there are no shortage of those but it still stings me a little every time someone discounts him.

I'm not dismissing the name because Pujols is absolutely deserving, but I think even you agreed they kind of did him dirty in the power department. Even if he was only the NL reward, I think they could've been more generous with that card.
Papi and McGwire are two other slugging 1B types that were each the AL collection reward in 21 and 23. Look at the pop they got! That's where Pujols should be at.
-
I think they could've been more generous with that card.
I mean... He only hit 700 HRs.

That's why it just doesn't make any sense. I don't care about the new parallel system, this isn't even an endgame Pujols let alone a justifiable LS collection reward.
I just feel bad for Cards fans when he eventually gets a cracked card later in the year with either the Angels or... gasps... Dodgers.

Only 47 but feel as old as you farts. Especially when reading your stuff as a hardcore Cardinal fan myself being from there and growing up to the 80’s teams.
On topic:
My excitement at seeing Willie McGee in game has me so excited as I’ve been pushing in random Twitch Streams, forum posts etc. that he’d be the perfect player for this game. Switch hitter, fast, great D.
My disappointment with SDS stems that I swear when they include new famous cardinals they of course put the card on the wrong [censored] team to start my cardinals grind. Rolen last year 99 collection as a phillie was a dagger.
I enjoy having my team captains and grinding my team. This year is cool insofar as adding suppan, McGee, etc but due to their not being a Cardinals card I get no captain boosts and have to buy/grind other teams to include them in my lineup and then they reap no benefits of my captains.
I believe SDS should allow a player to reap captains benefits from ANY team they have played for, similar to how Madden does it.
There’s so many great players that have played for so many teams it would be great.
Take for instance this WBC content we’re getting - I don’t really care at all about any of them as none are “Cardinals” on their current team thus not getting my captain boosts. I’d love to use a Tyler O’Neil or an Arenado but I simply don’t care about WBC cards at all now.

This year is cool insofar as adding suppan, McGee
Man I forgot that Suppan was a Cardinal. His best War years came with KC. But he did have a better ERA, WHIP, H9, K9, BB9 as a Cardinal.
So lets see that is
McGwire - A's
McGee - SF
Simmons - Brewers
Pendleton - Braves
Carlton - Phillies
Beltran - Mets
Berkman - Astros
Suppan - RoyalsNow, I don't expect they would all get 99 Cardinal cards. I could see Beltran not getting a Cardinal Card at all (he got one last year). I would like to see Berkman at least get a mid 90s Contributor Card (he had a year where he hit 301 with 31 HRs as a Cardinal and played a key role in the 2011 World Series season).
I would hope at some point to get a Carlton. This is his 3rd straight Phillies card since being added. Fine, he made his name mainly as a Phillie, but as I said before the Cardinals, outside of Gibson, have never really had a good legend Starting Pitcher.
Again, these players played for those teams and in some of the cases are more iconic for those teams so it is fine. But it does mean that we'll need to wait at least a few months before we see a Cardinals versions of any of them.
-
Suppan forever in my mind for his amazing game against the Mets.
A lot of cards could be tremendous as Cardinals later in the year if they’re say “postseason” cards.
Berkman in 2011, max clutch
Kolten Wong in the series against the Giants whatever year.Wish they’d play around with card series more.
Jack Flaherty 2nd half of the season we smoked the Braves he was in Cy Young consideration.
Stuff like that. Imagine a young Carlton to go with our usual Gibson. Pepper in a 2nd half Flaherty and a postseason Wacha and all of a sudden we have more than Gibson and a 64 OVR Palente.
-
Kolten Wong
Not in the game anymore is he? He retired.
-
Yeah I just mean in past years with Wong.
Just examples of cool cards they could / can do with the series of cards they already have in place.
They make insanely overpowered Topps Now cards that have stats better than Legends that maybe got a hit in their first game.
Meanwhile they have these card series they waste with an 82 OVR gold postseason card of some absolute stud.
-
@JenkinMeyer_PSN that McGee card should come with a trigger warning for the younger folks
-
I’ve linked it before but John Morris’s impression of him is amazing.

All hail Willie. My favorite baseball player and overall great human being.

Son of a b......
I wanted to buy the game on PS5 but didnt want to pre-order or pay full price and wasn't so excited.
Turn on my Xbox for the first time in a while and I got like $60 of Xbox Rewards credit sitting there - half of it expiring in 3 days.
Well....can't let free money go to waste.....went ahead and purchased the pre-order for like 30 bucks.
So does this game come out at 9pm pacific tonight or do I have to wait til midnight pacific?
-
@LuvMyXBOX_XBL 9 for the left coast
-
@LuvMyXBOX_XBL 9pm pacific tonight!

I got a real baseball game after school tomorrow but as soon as I get home, I will be grinding 26. I am incredibly excited for this game, cant wait to actually be able to play it
-
I’m excited because it’s fresh. Really hoping the glitches from last year are fixed. Hope the game feels better online and off compared to last season. Looking forward to just taking my time with it. Every year I rush through it chasing players I rarely use because I chase the next player. This year I’m going to play with who I like, get cards I want to try, and just have some fun. I’m going to stop watching the streamers and rarely look at the socials this year to avoid the temptation to grind and waste tons of hours forgetting to enjoy the game. Hopefully it’s a great game overall.
