Team Affinity Card reveals for Aug 29th

Which will happen first: The Neon collection fully released or the Nationals finally get out of the 3rd Inning against the Yanks.
-
My guess: Tomoyuki Sugano is the Oriole's Neon

Doubtful, unless they are purposefully misleading with the card art. That definitely looks more like a hitter with a more modern batting helmet.
Which from what I have seen means they are not necessarily trying to give teams with only hitting captains a Pitching Captain. That means that I could be wrong about the Cardinals getting Gibson.
-
Someone on Reddit found the exact photo for the Orioles. It's Adley.
-
Kind of excited for that Chandler Simpson card. I love 99 speed slap type hitters. I'm hoping he can be like the past Dee Gordon cards.
-
I was hoping that would be a 99 Brian Roberts.
-
Added the AL Central to the first post.
Surprised to see it is all prospects.
So, I have no idea if it there is any kind of theme to this. Will the cardinals get an updated version of one of their legends or an updated version of JJ Weatherholt (who is excelling in AAA)?
Oh, and not a single pitcher yet.
-
Hoping for any of the following Joey Votto, Chris Sabo, Johnny Bench 99 or a Reds Paul O'Niell or Reds Dave Parker... dream cards Tom Browning or Jose Rijo
-
How could they screw up and still not give teams with only hitting captains another position player? It’s insanity
-
I am underwhelmed by these choices, although perhaps these are filling in theme team gaps? I doubt SDS considers that though. Idf they do, incoming 99 McNeil for the Mets.
I assume this is when they finally give Peterson his long overdue card for his 2024-2025 performance
-
@Dolenz_PSN the lack of a pitching captain should be a fireable offense for content director at SDS.
-
Hoping for Trevor Hoffman 99.

That got me curious - It is only an upgrade to the theme team in 4 of the 9 teams revealed so far
Blue Jays - Shawn Green - RF
- 99 George Springer
- 99 Jose Bautista
Yankees - Derek Jeter - SS
- 99 Anthony Volpe
Red Sox - Marcelo Mayer - 3B
- 99 Wade Boggs
Rays - Chandler Simpson - CF
- 96 Brendan Summerhill
Guardians - Travis Bazzana - 2B
- 99 Jason Kipnis
Royals - Jac Caglianone - RF
- 97 Randal Grichuk
Twins - Walker Jenkins - CF
- 99 Torii Hunter
- 98 Byron Buxton
Tigers - Kevin McGonigle - SS
- 93 Willi Castro
White Sox - Kyle Teel - C
- 91 Kyle Teel
Toronto's Biggest need was a LF to replace 89 Santander
Yankees don't really have a weakness.
Red Sox theme team still has 87 Kristian Campbell as their 2B
Rays have an 83 Catcher and a 86 LF
Guardians still have 88 Manzardo at 1B
Royals still have 76 live series Kyle Isbel at CF
Twins have 91 Bader in LF
Tigers have a 84 Dingler at C
White sox has 83 Braden Montgomery in RF -
Okay, all of this talk made me decide to try and pull Captain info into my App so I can report on it as well. It could be tricky because it is a separate API
EDIT: I guess I won't do that as the Captains API is not showing any data

It's just downright lazy to be honest.
-
I am not sure I would call it lazy. Poor planning maybe but I think that it probably takes more effort to not have both hitting and pitching captains for every team. Because now they have to keep track of who has what and maintain two different sets of boosts based on whether a team has both captains.

Ok fair enough, maybe lazy was a bit harsh, just frustrated is all.

The AL East had me a little excited until the AL Central was revealed.
To me, this looks like SDS saw us complaining about TA and threw together a program as quickly as possible without any real plan.
I'll hold my judgement until the other divisions are released, but so far I'm a little concerned.

I know that every man garbage is an another man's treasure, but I sure won't lose time grinding hard to get the AL Central Neon cards...
