    Hi guys,

I am new to the game and the franchise. I have been playing for almost three months now.

I am progressing well into the game. I now own Scott Rolen 99 and I am one card away of finishing the Live Series (I miss Ohtani). I gotta say that I never thought I would accomplish these two objectives when I start playing.

I have finish every programs - except two - and and every mini-season - beside Ink.

I also thought I was getting better. Until the last days.

I don't know if SDS tweek something, but winning game and getting hits against the CPU seems harder than ever on the Veteran difficulty.

Logically (well, I think lol), it should be the opposite, right, because I now have a squad that have a 99 overall grade and I still face (in Conquest, Diamond Quest, and Against CPU) Live Series teams that have an overall grade of 75 or 79.

How is it getting harder, then?

I use to destroy the Rockies and the White Sox CPU teams in July. I mean, winning a perfect-game-20-0 level of destruction. Now, I am lucky if I score five runs, even though I face the same 76 or 77 pitcher on the mound.

Balls that were flying over the wall, at the warning track or in the alley now become easy out in the outfield. Balls there were droping on the opposite field become pop up in the infield. The CPU also use outside pitches much more often to prevent me from stealing.

I got to precise that I use the swing timing mode. So, this is not a "location" problem. I still swing at the same time I was in the past week. The balls are just not flying anymore.

How come I was a better player (against the CPU) with a 87 overall team than I am with a 99?

How come I had so much more success hitting HR and doubles with Luke Keaschall Topps Now 86 card in June than I have now with his 99 Spotlight card?

So, is the computer "better" at playing the game to match the evolution of the highest cards everyone is using now?

I am not criticizing. I am just trying to understand why I became so bad in such a short time.

Approach; go back to basics. You’re overconfident and expect easy results (you’re human).

The Rockies just took 2 out of 4 from the Dodgers.

Baseball is just like that sometimes.

I posted something similar questioning the 99 cards, but mine is probably a 60 game (3 innings) sample size so it isn't because of a bad day. I don't notice a change in my offensive production now vs when I used the 85 diamonds. Playing the same bronze/silver/gold cards I still hit the same amount of homers, similar BA, etc., in conquest. I wonder if anyone else notices a large bump which would be expected. As far as becoming more difficult, if you do the Inked it would obviously be harder due to the better cards. But conquest should be much easier you would think.

    @dinkus_MLBTS

That is what you would think indeed!

But yesterday, I lost two games at Conquest on the same map. I think I never lost a game in Conquest before (I have done more than half of the maps).

The day before, I lost back to back games, in... well, I don't remember the exact name of the mini-season. But it was the one with the 2025 All-Star. Granted, I lost to the Cairo Cats, who have a line-up as good as mine, but up to that point, I was 22-1.

It also never took me that much time to complete a Spotlight program. Normally, it is done in one or two days. I am now at my third day and, for the love of me, I just can't hit a second home run with Ben Rice or get a third XBH with Keaschall.

So, I add unusual results for three days in a row now. Maybe I was tired. Maybe, like yankblan said, I was overconfident.

I will take a break tonight. Maybe this is what I need and get back onto the horse Wednesday with a new attitude.

At least now, I know that I am not victim of a big conspiracy from SDS 🙂

Thanks again for your input guys! Once again, you did not disapoint!

SDS has been known to change the hitting, pitching, baserunning, or fielding dynamics after initial release of the game. It seems this in response to claims made that the game is too easy or too hard. Sometimes, SDS will reference these changes in the descriptions of their updates, but other times it seems they do not.

@PriorFir4383355_XBL So basically, buy these expensive cards that are supposedly better and then SDS ups the CPU players abilities so it's exactly the same game and we see no benefits to the new cards. Great. It's kinda like all the games now having you repeatedly chase better armor only to have the enemies scale up to your new level. Anybody else feel like a hamster on a wheel?

Eventually, when theyre tired, some hamsters get off that wheel.
