@TheGoaler_PSN RIP Ozzy. He & Sabbath are at the top of my list for all time favorite bands. A few years ago, my daughter bought me tickets for Father's Day to see Sabbath here in Albuquerque. Front row center. Since she knew how much I love them. One of the greatest concerts I've ever been to. She even caught one of Tony Iommi's picks that he threw out to the crowd. The only thing that was missing was Bill Ward behind the drums. Even though the drummer they had was pretty d-a-m-n good.
As far as songs besides the usual that everyone knows, A National Acrobat on the Sabbath (B)loody Sabbath album and Into the Void on Paranoid and Supernaut on Vol IV are my favorite Sabbath songs. Fun fact, Jeff Beck said the riff on Supernaut is his favorite of all time. It was also a favorite song of Frank Zappa and John Bonham. And his duet with Lita Ford on Close My Eyes Forever is amazing. With added benefit of seeing Lita Ford being the smoke show that she is in the video.
The world will miss you, Ozzie. You were one of a kind. Let me see your hands! I love you all!
You got me with that last paragraph!!
I've been fortunate to be a fan of Eddie Trunk and his rock shows since 1999. He's a master of the deep track, and i've discovered some incredible stuff over the years, thanks to him. From Saxon, to UFO, to Y & T, and more recently 'BCC - Black Country Communion.' If you've never heard of them, PLEASE check them out. Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham & Derek Sherinian. Thank me later. They have 5 stellar albums with their 4th maybe being their 'Led Zeppelin 4.'
I always knew the Ozzy & Sabbath 'hits' like 'Iron Man' 'Paranoid,' 'Crazy Train,' 'Bark at the moon,' etc. Listening to Ed, I got to hear deeper, incredible stuff like 'Hand of doom,' 'Lord of this world,' solo 'S.A.T.O.,' 'Believer,' and 'The road to nowhere.' Like you mentioned, 'A national acrobat' is great! I also love that groove at about 1:05 in 'The thrill of it all,' that could easily be sampled in hip-hop! And we're not even including Dio-era Sabbath!!
I mean, I could go on, but have to add that they weren't evil. They sung about evil, as in heroin addiction in 'Hand of doom,' etc. Just an amazing group of musicians. I appreciate them so much. -
Crazy Train, Paranoid, Iron Man, Sabbath [censored] Sabbath, Mama I'm Coming Home, the list just goes on and on.
-
Did they really sensor b.l.o.o.d.y.? Y'know, without the periods?
-
Let me just add a couple of deeper Ozzy & Sabbath tracks just because.....
'Steal away the night' 'Road to nowhere' 'Time after time' solo.
'The Writ,' which is about a bad contract with a record company or something & has a groove in the middle that is, well....unreal!! 'Snowblind' & 'Symptom of the universe' by Sabbath that starts out harder than hard, then mellows out unbelievably! Check them when you can. -

Hard to say they were evil when they had lyrics like, "could it be you're afraid of what your friends might say if they knew you believed in God above? They should realize before they criticize that God is the only way to love." After Forever on Paranoid. Geezer Butler, besides being one of the greatest bass players in history, was also a world class lyricist.
People who say that Ozzy or Sabbath were evil never actually listened to the music. A Satan worshipper wouldn't say, "God bless you all" at the end of every concert.
-
@TheGoaler_PSN Sabotage and Technical Ecstacy may be their 2 most under appreciated albums. With Symptom of the Universe & Megalomania on Sabotage. And, Dirty Women & She's Gone on Technical Ecstasy.
Man, this is awesome talking about Ozzy & Sabbath. Thanks for posting about him. Spent the whole day yesterday listening to the entire catalog.
-
@TheBigPapa55_PSN I know, right! That's why I had to put the parentheses around it on my post.
-
Early live version of War Pigs in 1970. Ozzy forgets some of the words & there are some alternate lyrics.

Ha ha. Great point.!
Biohazard did a cover of 'After forever' for that 'Nativity in black' Sabbath tribute album. -
@TheBigPapa55_PSN aren’t periods blood-y by definition?
-
Can't believe i found this. Wow. Someone on the 'Ozzy's Boneyard' channel on Sirius/XM mentioned this. I said: 'what???'
Googled it, and it's real. Mind blown!

@TheGoaler_PSN I'm an idiot, by the way. I said that and Into the Void were on Paranoid. I meant Master of Reality. I've always gotten those two albums mixed up.

I would love to meet Glenn.
BCC is incredible, and I hope to see them 'live.' Yes, I'm here in NYC. -
@TheGoaler_PSN Seen Glenn over 30x and seen BCC 3x. Dont think they will be touring anytime soon with Glenn, Joe and Jasons schedules being pretty full for 2026. I take it you missed BCC in sayerville in 2012?
-
@ralph13m_PSN Those were the original lyrics. The album was supposed to be called war pigs but the rec company made them change it.
