Sad..just made the HOF
-
How about a supercharge for the Cobra?
-
Oh no... He's been toughing out a serious illness for a long time. He was one awesome SOB. I'll have him in my thoughts all year.
-
@SaveFarris_PSN At the very least!
-
Was a big fan of him on the Oakland A's championship team in '89. Didn't really get to see as much of his prime, but everything I've ever read or seen on him has raved about his skills.
R.I.P. -
I watched him on television when he started playing for the Reds in 1984 until his retirement with my beloved Angels in 1991. He was still a productive right fielder and DH for the Oakland A's in 1988 and 1989, when he was still hitting home runs out of Oakland-Alameda County Stadium those two postseasons when the team won two pennants and a World Series. In addition, less I forget his many contributions, including the mentorship he gave to both Eric Davis and Gary Sheffield as young players that helped them to become eventual superstars, and his impact with the '"We Are Family,'" 1979 World Series Champion Pittsburgh Pirates, Dave Parker deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Finally, I will be interested to see who does his induction speech in little over a month, will it be his wife, Davis, Sheffield, or his former Pirate teammate, Kent Tekulve, and will anything that he wrote or spoke about in his speech in the last year be included. Sad to see that Parkinson's Disease, that nasty beast, killed "The Cobra," and I give my condolences and best wishes to his family.

They haven’t even tweeted about him yet, they usually do by now when a legend passes.
