You could also consider doing March to October.
This. If you do MTO on Veteran, you'll get up to 42 points if you win the WS. Takes about 4-5 hours a run. I hate Showdown, so I do this and exchanges.
Here is a great video on some tips to speed it up...
Thank you.
FYI...you can get 52 from veteran MTO if you win the World Series.

AL West and Central are easier showdowns if you want to try that. But exchanges are pretty cheap right now so def can be worth it. You can do 40 points worth of exchanges for 16-17k
-
I’ve completed 7 and I haven’t completed one of the showdowns
-
I noticed in the game screen, it says new showdowns coming next week with the Stage 2 affinities. I assume that the new showdown vouchers will still help you unlock Stage 1 items (if you haven't made it to 70 points yet). I am purposely staying away from showdown, but if gameplay and RNG in the mode improves, I'd be willing to go back and do it. Right now, I'm doing MTO.

I’ve really enjoyed MTO this year. Yeah it takes a little while but at least you know you will get a reward. Showdown sux.

I am growing to love MTO. I just started the playoffs with my seventh team. And the getting rewards at the gates makes it way more relaxing.
I lost in the first round on one of my runs because I tried a harder difficulty. But, when it was done I still got a bunch of affinity and it was a lot of fun.

I suck with showdown as well but I'm starting to find my groove a bit. Have completed the AL Central 5x, and AL West 2x in the past week.
If I can do it then anyone can do it lol

You still get some affinity points if you lose?

Don’t sucker me into trying it again. Ha.

You get points based on how well you do compared to expectations at the All-Star break and at the end of the season. After that, you get points for each postseason round you win.

Thank you all of the great feedback.
This game is not perfect, but its "our" game. I accept the good and the bad, but this game can be so much fun and so rewarding.
Thanks for all of the great ideas.
Keep grinding fellas -
Start to finish, if you use buy orders, you can get any team affinity to 50 for 20k
-
If you plan to use the exchange wait until cards come down a little. I usually use 84 golds, but not until I can get them for close to quick sell
-
I usually use the 72/73s for between 60-90 apiece for exchanges. You can finish them for 20K each.

I have done a few but the time sink is too much.
It is a super fun mode.I guess I will have to pick and chose what TA's to do.
Since nothing in life is free (as it should be), I am just trying to get an idea on what the cost of doing the exchanges would be.You either grind or pay there is no way around it....no handouts
If you do March to October in all star and win the World Series I believe you get up to 52 points which automatically unlocks the FOTF player of whatever team you’re doing march to October with. I’m in the same boat as you, I suck on showdown. M2O is my only real option and it’s a grind but I’m only going after Rizzo and Torres

Anyone know if doing MTO more than once for a team gets you additional points?

Yes, you can it as many times as you like and will get points each time.

So looks like Affinty Stage 2 is coming out next week. Any ideas what players are gonna be for each team? Also do y’all think it’s wise to continue buying players to finish teams off now or wait and see what the Stage 2 players will be first? I’m betting prices on cards go up next week so people can do the new stuff quickly
