I suck with showdown as well but I'm starting to find my groove a bit. Have completed the AL Central 5x, and AL West 2x in the past week.
If I can do it then anyone can do it lol
Don’t sucker me into trying it again. Ha.

You still get some affinity points if you lose?
You get points based on how well you do compared to expectations at the All-Star break and at the end of the season. After that, you get points for each postseason round you win.

Thank you all of the great feedback.
This game is not perfect, but its "our" game. I accept the good and the bad, but this game can be so much fun and so rewarding.
Thanks for all of the great ideas.
Keep grinding fellas -
Start to finish, if you use buy orders, you can get any team affinity to 50 for 20k
-
If you plan to use the exchange wait until cards come down a little. I usually use 84 golds, but not until I can get them for close to quick sell
-
I usually use the 72/73s for between 60-90 apiece for exchanges. You can finish them for 20K each.

You could also consider doing March to October.
I have done a few but the time sink is too much.
It is a super fun mode.I guess I will have to pick and chose what TA's to do.
Since nothing in life is free (as it should be), I am just trying to get an idea on what the cost of doing the exchanges would be.You either grind or pay there is no way around it....no handouts
If you do March to October in all star and win the World Series I believe you get up to 52 points which automatically unlocks the FOTF player of whatever team you’re doing march to October with. I’m in the same boat as you, I suck on showdown. M2O is my only real option and it’s a grind but I’m only going after Rizzo and Torres

Anyone know if doing MTO more than once for a team gets you additional points?

Yes, you can it as many times as you like and will get points each time.

So looks like Affinty Stage 2 is coming out next week. Any ideas what players are gonna be for each team? Also do y’all think it’s wise to continue buying players to finish teams off now or wait and see what the Stage 2 players will be first? I’m betting prices on cards go up next week so people can do the new stuff quickly

You shouldn’t give up on Showdown. It’s not about getting good at all.
- Only pick hitters.
- Only pick perks that help hitting
- Be patient. Wait for your pitch. They hit the corners like crazy early on. Take the pitches. Once they hit 20 pitches they start missing corners and throw meatballs.
- During showdown. Don’t worry about position. Use your top 9 hitters

Good advice! I did just that tonight to get the most glitchiest card in the game this year. Not Joey gallo.

Is it working any better lately? Any easier or less RNG based? I gave up about a week or so ago and said I wouldn't do it anymore. If it was less RNG, I would try it again. It's kind of killing me to look at the mode in the game and not play it.

I will be the first to admit that I have not focused on Team Affinities as much as I should have.
The main reason is I am absolutely horrible at showdown.
I know, I know Get Gud, I suck, that's fine. I know that I am painfully average.
And MTO takes too long, too many hours per season. That being said, with new Team Affinities coming out soon.
Are the exchanges worth doing? Or has that ship sailed and I should just focus on advancing the TA's that I have already done?Generally, what is the cost to get one done?
For exchanges the ship has not sailed at some point most golds will be QS value and you will be able to get caught up if willing to shell out the stubs

You are right!!
I remember exchanging a ton of AS Rick Porcello cards last year.
I will keep this in mind.
Thank you -
