Thats my opinion.
I'm not as good nor do i grind as much as others so i don't have any of the current 99s .
Sets and seasons i would have been able to wild card a few 99s . -
Well, when there's 100 of them after the first month...yeah you're gonna have a few...

I definitely don't miss sets and seasons, didn't belong in the game

My biggest issue with sets and seasons was packs but those have certainly not gone away with sets and seasons. I was certainly more engaged last year but I think that is a combination of factors and not just Sets and Seasons
