    What we know
    retired players come from the Hall of Fame, the Alumni Association (think they call it different now),and from individual players/estates.
    There is a license fee for having them in the game
    What we don't know
    Is it a standard fee or do some players cost more than others
    Who do the organizations make available and how many
    Duration of the license
    Who declines to be a part
    Who wants to but can't get in

    @PAinPA_PSN

    I appreciate this; it gets me closer to understanding 100% of how this is done. I've been trying to figure this out since about 2016. The question now is: Does SDS reach out to players they'd like to see in the game, first, before this process begins?

    If we could just transfer our created players from year-to-year, this wouldn't be as much of an issue for many of us.

    @yankblan_PSN

    He's really missed. I love the catcher secondary for him. He can be recreated for Franchise, etc., but the professionally created version was perfect!

    A. Players get dropped for all sorts of reasons: financial, legal (hello, Mr. Belle!), or just because no one used their card and the legend contract expense couldn't be justified (hello, Aubry Huff!)

    B. Just because a former legend isn't in the game today doesn't mean they've been dropped. Jimmie Foxx has been a late arriver for a couple of years now, not making his debut until August or later. Or, in the cases of Dawson and Ted, they return after after a year or two absence.

    C. Any BIG name legends (ARod, Bonds, DiMaggio, Koufax, Ichico, etc.) aren't going to be mid-year additions and will only debut at a game's launch. Vinny Castilla or Paul Moliter? Sure, they'll debut midway through a year. Albert Pujols or Frank Robinson? Not a chance!

    @SaveFarris_PSN never going to get Bonds....also, I agree that having duplicates is ridiculous. Or, having Legends that are still playing. I.E. Kershaw, Harper

    @SaveFarris_PSN But, Jimmie Foxx hasn't been in the game for at least 3 years now. He hasn't been added later, either.

    @ralph13m_PSN Jimmie Foxx was apparently only removed for MLB The Show 24. Never say never to any player, including Barry Bonds, who will likely get into the Hall of Fame, now that Shoeless Joe and his teammates, along with Pete Rose, have been pardoned. I definitely don't feel like it's necessary to have Kershaw's, Harper's, even Kipnis, Dozier... guys who aren't really legends.
    I think it's good to have players from a century ago introduced, more often, just as they're doing with the Negro League players. I wanted guys like Satchel Paige to show up, for almost a decade.

    George Sisler is a must for the near future, especially given his role as a scout for Branch Rickey. He was not only a top tier player, but was the guy who found Jackie Robinson. When they added the new commentary, they forgot to record "Sisler", "McGriff", and a LOT of names for players for existed. Instead, we have these REALLY bizarre last names that no one has in the sport.

    @SaveFarris_PSN There's a lot of conjecture, but I'm digging for specifics on every player. BIG names is just a point-of-view, not a fact.

    7 MLB HOFs lost this year. How pathetic. All of these guys were so fun with theme teams.

    @Zachtronics_XBL I was referring never getting Barry Bonds in so far as even when he was playing he never authorized his likeness to be used. Even going back all the way to the old All-Star baseball on N64. If I remember correctly, there was a stand-in that would be used that was called Reggie Stocker. Now, if they introduced a legend named Reggie Stocker I would say, "well played SDS. "

    @ralph13m_PSN Yeah, you're right. What was his pseudo-name in the older games? lol

    @TheBigPapa55_PSN It seems like some of those names are on hold. I'll be they're in the files somewhere, just turned off for the time being, not visible to anyone but possible data-miners.

    I've always wondered why there's so few Padres, year-to-year, when the studio is based out of San Diego!

    @Zachtronics_XBL it's a crime that there is no Dave Winfield. Or Randy Jones and Steve Garvey. At least have all the Padres who have had their numbers retired. Even though most people think of Steve Garvey as a Dodger.

    @Zachtronics_XBL I don’t think it’s as complicated as you seem to think it is. They have a budget. They probably have a minimum number of legends they’d like to be at. It’s a balancing act.

    @ralph13m_PSN Winfield was in 2018 or so, I think? I was happy when he and Benito Santiago were part of the Padres legends. Steve Garvey was in the game at one point too, I think? Or maybe that was Eric Karros... or both!? Adrian Gonzalez was a legend not long ago, also.

    I'm working on Terry Kennedy shortly. I had a version of him in 2019/2020. We should coordinate to get out more legends! It's encouraging to know that you've been at it, since most of the veteran creators gave up, after they made us recreate them, every year.

    Oh yeah, I remember now... MVP Baseball had Jon Dowd, who was setup just like Bonds, batting stance and all, but looked nothing like him lol

    @GoozeFn_PSN I think there's a budget and software to hardware restraints. I new some of the guys at RBI Baseball, and they had tons of legends in their game, for several years, and the process didn't sound complex, at all.

    @Zachtronics_XBL I would be happy to.

    It also just occurred to me, and SDS I want credit if you do it, make legends downloadable content. Say, if you want the 1927 New York Yankees, you can buy them for $30. Or, say, $5 for individual players.

    Instead of them trying to get people to buy those stupid stubs for the card game that is DD.
