    @TripleH-4481_PSN
I do my gym work after work, I have zero excuses that way because I drive right by it on the way home.

I'm sad-ish to say I do that thing called "revenge sleep deferral", where you knowingly put off sleep to do the things you feel you were cheated out of due to being busy all day

CPU hits like rookie but pitches and fields like all star or higher even on low difficulty. It’s ridiculous and could easily be fixed by tweaking sliders under the hood. The fact SDS refuses to do so tells you all you need to know. It’s done intentionally to slow the grind whether they admit to it or not.

This , and timing in hitting & pitching (meter pitching) is so off , it’s almost unplayable to me this year . This game this year has been so frustrating & not fun for me to play , that I have finally given up on playing this year and quit playing. I started playing other games & am having a lot more fun , which is too bad . I used to love this game & had a lot of fun playing it , but not last yrs game & this yrs. Version is even worse in mechanics & game play. Well , I’ve learned my lesson and won’t be buying anymore baseball games from SDS unless these issues are fixed . Good thing my Tigers are having a great season so far !!!

Reading some of the posts above make me so grateful that my wife is a gamer... I'm 51, she's 49; been married 17 years, and one of our favorite things to do is enjoy our hobbies together. She plays online MMOs, and I play The Show while we sit together, chat in less tense moments, and drink our coffee on weekend mornings... sometimes we play all day. Even our 13 year-old daughter is a gamer (but, my god, I don't know if I can take many more family sessions of Genshin Impact).

This game has a massive issue with CPU pitchers not throwing strikes but SDS has been ignoring us for 4 years now. I don’t know what happened after 21 but they’ve slowly made the gameplay worse every year.

I'm not 100% certain this is entirely true, OP but I'm also not 100% certain it isn't. That being said, I do share the frustration with pitching, but from the opposite direction. I find even on AS you don't get very hittable strikes...it's always the outer-most whisker of the zone type-strikes. There's very few mistake pitches anymore.

@Pergo_MLBTS in his defence, the game history isn't always accurate anymore either. I played 3 games of ranked Coop last night where I was the host, and none of them are showing in my history, but the games I played earlier in the evening vs CPU are there. I'm not saying you're incorrect, I'm just saying it's entirely possible he's telling the truth.

This was my experience this year.

As a timing user, I would try to lay off of these but cant take strike 3.
And then there is the way to high groundball chance..
The big issue is that its bronzes that do this nonsense, not just diamonds.

It does feel pointless to complain anymore if anything they’ve doubled down especially when they forced competitive in offline play which some may have forgotten about

It's beyond stupid and makes grinding impossible. Decided to count this morning. Here's my 1st inning.

1st batter: 4 straight balls way out of the zone. Walk

2nd batter 4 straight balls way out of the zone. Walk

3rd batter 3 straight balls way out of the zone (11 straight balls to start the game) 1 pitch right down the middle, Perfect/Perfect.....amazing diving catch in the gap. Out

4th batter 2 straight balls, 1 pitch in the zone, Perfect/Perfect....82 EV grounder to short, double play.

    14 balls
    2 strikes
    2 Perfect/Perfect
    3 outs

That's every inning, every game along with 30 on the gray and dotted corner pitches.

I'm starting to wonder if the new ambush nonsense they added plays a roll in how they tuned the pitching this year because I've never seen it this ridiculous, boring, unrealistic, and stupid.

Thank you, this is exactly how I feel. Glad to not be the only one, it's just not fun this year.

Looking at the game history, I don't believe any of the original posters stats.

I play almost exclusively on veteran and have never noticed pitching as poorly as he describes, in fact it is the opposite, with every pitcher from commons to diamonds living on the edges and making very few mistake pitches.

@Dolenz_PSN I kind of wish I could see some of that pitching the OP described. It's going to take all year to get those 300 walks for that My Legacy program!

Honestly, I started to log my PAs in a MS on veteran. So far, through 6 games, it's 42.2% in the heart of the plate, 29.9% border pitches (could be ball or strike, but on the line in the games' graphic), and 27.8% waste pitches.

When playing the game, it does seem like a whole lot more "dots and balls", but when looking at my PAs at the end of the game, I have gotten plenty in the heart of the plate.

While I don't think I really believe this. I play pretty exclusive on veteran and never have seen pitching this bad. In fact I see exactly the opposite pitchers nailing the edges way too often.

You had one game against the Rockies today.

    • You walked 3 times all game once each in the 1st, 4th and 6th. So the two leadoff batters walking on 8 straight pitches appears to be an exaggeration.
    • You cranked out 26 runs on 29 hits
    • You homered 12 times.
    • You were 8 for 8 on Perfect/Perfect swings including 4 homers.

What do you define heart of the plate? To me it would mean a pitch I would not need to move the PCI at all. I get plenty that are slight above or below that area, unfortunately resulting in a lot of weak flyouts and ground ball outs.

Of course It could just be me, but I am basically batting the same style of have for 5-10 years now.

@TripleH-4481_PSN And can we talk about the CPU fielding? It's like they are all diamond fielders. The number of diving catches and double plays/catches is absolutely ludicrous.

This game loves the double play, always has. My favorite is the CPU outfielder coming from off screen to make a diving catch in foul ground.... or the moon walk to catch a ball at the wall

Sometimes you just have to laugh at it but mostly it's just beyond frustrating.

same … Yes, I had 4 straight balls … very rarely tho … but „EVERY TIME“ is just not true. Why does this kind of behaviour happen so often in here??

I have no idea, I don't think people realize that when they say this stuff we can go check their game log.

In that game against Colorado. He only walked three times, racked up 26 runs on 29 hits, and was 8 for 8 with 4 home runs on his perfect/perfect swings.

I can only assume he wanted 36 runs.

Agree with your take that timing feels very off this year. Coupled with how brutal CPU pitching has become the game just isn’t fun or rewarding anymore.

Like you I used to love this game but now I feel like I play it more out of habit and not wanting to give it up because I feel deep down if I do I won’t ever come back. All good things come to an end I guess.

On a positive note go Tigers.

Oh I mentioned that too. I said on Rookie the CPU hits like rookie but pitches and fields like all star or above. Dotting and nibbling off the black and making diving plays with bronze and common players. It’s a joke.

Everything is fine … feedback is feedback … My only problem is: reading „every time“ makes posts like this implausible. So it takes away from the feedback-element (which is sad). Other than that: I oppose the feedback. The game is kind of a sim and balls/walks are part of the game. 10+ runs are evidence of balls not being a problem 🙂

My remedy for this has been playing on allstar. I won’t claim that I’ve had this level of issue with pitching but I do notice a difference on rookie and veteran. My frustration comes from moments and diamond quest where I mostly cannot control the diffaculty. Having said that , I think I’ve played a few conquest games so far this season… game just didn’t do it for me this year

I’ve heard this before about playing on all star to remedy the shortcomings of rookie and veteran. While I don’t disagree it dies say something about the game being broken on lower difficulties. Bottom line it shouldn’t be this way and SDS doesn’t want to doesn’t know how to fix it.

In all honesty I've had more patience at the plate this year than ever before and I'm walking at least twice a game, even on AS and up. It's still a slog.

@Dolenz_PSN said in Enough with the CPU pitching:

This has been my experience too, fairly annoying because it makes your patience and good eye your weakness.

I want the fielders to play to their attributes...I'm tired of watching Schwarber chase down gappers sinking faster than an Amber Heard deuce

I've switched from Vet to AS (that's where I hover in ranked), and I still mostly see the same stuff..miss on 3 straight, dot the next two...then it's either the full-movement slider/sweeper/curve that barely clips the upper edge of the zone, or a straight up down and away dot that clips a whisker of the zone called for a strike...either of which I take because it looks like a ball all the way in.
