Enough with the CPU pitching
-
It's beyond stupid and makes grinding impossible. Decided to count this morning. Here's my 1st inning.
1st batter: 4 straight balls way out of the zone. Walk
2nd batter 4 straight balls way out of the zone. Walk
3rd batter 3 straight balls way out of the zone (11 straight balls to start the game) 1 pitch right down the middle, Perfect/Perfect.....amazing diving catch in the gap. Out
4th batter 2 straight balls, 1 pitch in the zone, Perfect/Perfect....82 EV grounder to short, double play.
14 balls
2 strikes
2 Perfect/Perfect
3 outsThat's every inning, every game along with 30 on the gray and dotted corner pitches.
I'm starting to wonder if the new ambush nonsense they added plays a roll in how they tuned the pitching this year because I've never seen it this ridiculous, boring, unrealistic, and stupid.

Were you playing against the Rockies pitching staff?
-
At least play on veteran if you want more strikes. Rookie and Rockies pitcher is going to be a lot of balls because their pitching is soft on any difficulty.

Lol....yes on veteran but I see this in 9 out of 10 conquest games regardless of the team.

I play on veteran. This year I see almost no difference between rookie and veteran and while this game was against the Rockies I see this in pretty much every game.

CPU hits like rookie but pitches and fields like all star or higher even on low difficulty. It’s ridiculous and could easily be fixed by tweaking sliders under the hood. The fact SDS refuses to do so tells you all you need to know. It’s done intentionally to slow the grind whether they admit to it or not.
-
@TripleH-4481_PSN Do they ever do a "state of the game" blog or update? It would be interesting to hear them acknowledge or deny any of the issues like CPU fielding, EVs, market inflation, etc.
Even just a quick "yes, we realize the CPU is fielding a bit too well on low difficulties and its not consistent with how higher rated player-controlled fielders act, we will be looking to tweak it in a future update" would be welcome.
-
I wish they would but they never will. They have to be aware that it’s going on. Ignoring it the way they do is telling in that it has to either be by design or can’t be fixed.
Those are the only 2 plausible explanations. The game would be so much better and more efficient if this was actually addressed.

One look at your game history shows that this did not happen. Your last game was a 26-0 win and you are complaining about pitching making the grind impossible? And none of the 3 games in your history today show the first two batters in the 1st inning drawing walks. None of them even show more than 3 walks in an entire game.

I'm not 100% certain this is entirely true, OP but I'm also not 100% certain it isn't. That being said, I do share the frustration with pitching, but from the opposite direction. I find even on AS you don't get very hittable strikes...it's always the outer-most whisker of the zone type-strikes. There's very few mistake pitches anymore.
@Pergo_MLBTS in his defence, the game history isn't always accurate anymore either. I played 3 games of ranked Coop last night where I was the host, and none of them are showing in my history, but the games I played earlier in the evening vs CPU are there. I'm not saying you're incorrect, I'm just saying it's entirely possible he's telling the truth.

Sure, anything is possible, and it would not surprise me at all if coop games do not show up correctly based on all of the issues that mode has had. But based on the CPU game history and my own experience being nothing like this, I'm skeptical. Feels like a classic situation of someone exaggerating and embellishing to try and make a point and voice frustration. I just can't be convinced that the pitching is so bad that it makes the grind impossible when it's pretty simple to put up 20+ runs in a game.
-
It’s not just bad teams you’re lucky to get 1 good pitch per at bat which against a computer is not enjoyable at all
-
Slow the grind to a halt and people will be forced to play longer, inevitably get frustrated, and break down and buy stubs to buy better cards to try and speed up the grind.
Not everyone has all day to live on the game. To those of us that have full time, non desk jobs, and families with kids time is precious so it puts even more pressure to just spend to help cut down on the time commitment required to advance in programs.

Brother, I love my wife more than life itself...and I love the life we've built and home we've made...but some days man I miss being able to game from 10 am til dumb o'clock at night on my own schedule and just give'er...
-
Haha too true but in my mid 40s those days are long gone.

I still get one or two chances a year when she does the girl's trips with her friends. But even then I'm crashing by 11:30 lol
-
I’m an early riser so I’m out way before that and up early for the gym before work even on weekends. Most of my gaming is weekends and early evenings.

Haha I feel this so much.

@TripleH-4481_PSN
I do my gym work after work, I have zero excuses that way because I drive right by it on the way home.I'm sad-ish to say I do that thing called "revenge sleep deferral", where you knowingly put off sleep to do the things you feel you were cheated out of due to being busy all day

This , and timing in hitting & pitching (meter pitching) is so off , it’s almost unplayable to me this year . This game this year has been so frustrating & not fun for me to play , that I have finally given up on playing this year and quit playing. I started playing other games & am having a lot more fun , which is too bad . I used to love this game & had a lot of fun playing it , but not last yrs game & this yrs. Version is even worse in mechanics & game play. Well , I’ve learned my lesson and won’t be buying anymore baseball games from SDS unless these issues are fixed . Good thing my Tigers are having a great season so far !!!
