    Shoeless Joe

Difference is Shoeless Joe only ever took the money...they never could prove he did anything to affect the outcome of the series, statistically speaking he was a monster that series

    Lets put it another way:
Tony Gwynn had more power than Pete Rose
Tony Gwynn was a better contact hitter than Pete Rose
Tony Gwynn was faster than Pete Rose
Tony Gwynn was a better base runner than Pete Rose

While I enjoy using gwynn cards, I feel I am definitely in the minority

@Teak2112_MLBTS I’m with ya! Tony Gwynn is my right fielder every year. He was my favorite player growing up & I absolutely love playing with him in The Show.

Pete Rose will never be in the game, if you want to know why Google Pete Rose 15 and you'll find out why. It's what all the content creators are saying when people ask in their stream

Ok, quick-google-search (no time to dig further) … case sealed … Thx …

To some other posts here in this thread: Pete Rose has a carreer WAR of 79.6 (Baseball-reference). Saying he was „not that good“ is a pretty wild statement. His Career war is higher than Brooks Robinson, Joltin Joe, Ozzie Smith, Paul Molitor, … He ranks no 66 all-time. Sure, he had 24 seasons to do it (and has was basically a replacement-player (in WAR-termins) his last 9 seasons) … but had several seasons of 5+ WAR … still not great, but still „not a bad baseball player“

Pete Rose is not an inner circle guy and should never be in 'best ever' discussions.

Was he a good player? Sure. Molitor seems like a fair enough comparison. Putting DiMaggio in there is pretty absurd though.

Dimaggio missed three years of his prime. So comparing WAR between a guy whose career was curtailed with a guy who decided he got to stick around for maybe a decade too long is silly. Pete strikes me as a bone spurs type of fella who would never have put country first.

There are 4,256 reasons for Pete Rose to be in the game. When you hold a record that nobody will ever approach again, no matter how many games they add to the playoffs, you've earned the right. The sudden injection of morality in a group that sits there with the kill switch next to them so they can disconnect the game before your 1st inning home run gets counted is rich.

He’s only the hit king because he got to pencil himself in the lineup well past his productive years. I know being a PDF file is no longer considered a bad thing to half the country but SDS has already set a precedent on this issue. Pete Rose won’t be in the game for the same reason Wander Franco isn’t.

Buddy, you really gotta get outside more. Just because I don't like who certain people voted for doesn't mean I'm ready to label half the country monsters.

based on his career accomplishments (statwise) Joe is right there … like it or not 🙂 . I am with you, that Joe (never saw him playing the game :)) was the clear better talent 🙂

EDIT: But do not take my post out of proportion. I never said „best ever“ (not even close) … I answered because some folks here stated that he was not a good baseball player. He was good and by far: not great :). Let‘s agree on that (if you want)

they need to negotiate with Pete's family / estate. they can't just add guys. It costs money and I bet Pete would cost them a lot. SDS has a budget too. So do they want to spend a large portion of that budget on Pete Rose or spend that on maybe 5-10 different players.

@sbchamps17_NSW They took out Mariano just for allegations of a SA cover up. Allegations, no conviction, no admission of guilt in a court but allegations. Yet some want Pete Rose in lol.

Baseball "purists" crack me up. Lol Its the only sport that does this goofy stuff, and for SO long and with such commitment. Im in my early forties, the "steroid era" was the best era of baseball in my lifetime. And technically speaking (with VERY few exceptions, not nearly as much as some purists would like to say) EVERYONE was juicing, so it evens out. Yet, lets ban pretty much everyone from ever getting HOF consideration. Ok... Lol

Yes, i realize rose wasn't a roids thing, if anything stuff like that is even worse. And its all the same mindset.

Funny thing about Pete Rose being 66th in all time WAR
The guy who is 67th is out of the hall of fame for being an asshole. No gambling, no links to steroids, no cheating, no uh, playing in the minor leagues. Just a world class asshole.

I mean, he doesnt have the hits record so its not easy to be a direct comparison, but 3000 Ks and one of the best post season pitchers of all time makes him a no brainer HoF based on his career alone.

But after what he pulled with Wakefield he can rot.

@Teak2112_MLBTS He was always a bad guy. Go back and watch how he was on the bench during the 93 playoffs. Bad teammate.

@YOSHI24_XBL The "Pete Rose 15" thing is a woman who claims to have had a physical relationship with Rose when she was underage. These claims have not been verified nor substantiated in any way beyond her allegations and hearsay. These allegations were brought forth by John Dowd in 2017. So, even though Dowd had begun investigating Rose as early as 1988, these allegations were not made public for 42 years.

He may be guilty, he may not. Being guilty of gambling does not automatically make him guilty of anything else. The complete lack of any evidence is why no charges were ever filed.

Wander Franco, on the other hand faces a litany of charges beyond the Stat. charge. Additionally, there is a substantial amount of evidence to support his charges.

Rose himself admitted to the relationship and used the defense of "I thought she was 16"
