    @The-Div8776_XBL Its almost like this is baseball and that's how baseball works. Even the best hitters fail over 60% of the time. So what you are saying checks out and makes it realistic and good. 🙂

    Sounds like you are looking for more of an arcade style baseball game. Maybe check out something like Super Mega Baseball.

    The one thing that is really annoying are those „Look at the pci, something is wrong“-argument … Why do people not get that this is one side of the input … Nobody sees the pitching input … Is it really that hard to get?

    Another look: Should good pci input always outweigh perfect pitching input? Think about it 😉

    It also doesn't account for pitch type or location.
    I know I can be dead center on a changeup middle in but if its down and in I have to be a little under it to get launch angle.

    Yeah, a lot of variables missing from these complaints... people get very fixated on "good" contact or timing, without much consideration for the actual variables that determine how a ball should fly. Here's a little tool you can use on Baseball Savant, next time you don't think the physics are right:

    Maybe when someone says "I had a launch angle of 27 degrees with 110 exit velocity on a pitch belt-high and I flew out at the track," and back it up with proof, those who enjoy an actual simulated game of baseball will agree that there is something "wrong."

    The “hitting engine is broken” types seem to overlook the fact that the best players always win more. Always. If this was an “RNG” situation where “skill and input don’t matter” then why do I get to the 700 level every year, then almost immediately get smoked by people who are actually good at this game? Literally every season. I beat the crappy players regularly, do pretty well against the solid players, and get stomped by dudes who keep squaring up the ball consistently at the higher levels. Like clockwork. That’s not an accident.
    And the people above make great points about the pitching side of this. Where are the crybaby “I threw a perfect pitch, why was it crushed?” people in any of this? “Boohoo, I keep hitting the paint and the idiots at SDS aren’t rewarding me with strikes”. Love it.
    Is this maybe a generation gap thing? I’m 46 so maybe I don’t have the “everyone gets a trophy” mentality? Maybe some people are just better equipped to deal with failure, sometimes despite the fact you played well, regardless of age?

    People also talk a lot about "squaring a ball up," when they're referencing "good" contact; unless you got a P/P, you didn't. Think about it... the center of the PCI can only represent the point of contact accurately if you have a P/P; the PCI's center location doesn't change based on your timing, it's just static on the screen, so if you're a little early or a little late (even with "good" timing), both the angle of your bat head and the location of the pitch at the moment it is struck are not going to be accurately represented by where the PCI sits on the screen...

    As such, you could potentially see "early" swings with "bad" PCI placement work out swimmingly for the hitter; that variance in bat head angle and pitch location at contact relative to the PCI might just result in a better launch angle and more solid contact, purely by chance, than "good" timing with a PCI just slightly off center. Lots of unpredictability with a round bat and a round ball.

    People are often drastically oversimplifying a complex mechanic when complaining of not being "rewarded" based on what they see in the feedback window.

    Is the hitting engine broken or are we just playing with 87-91 rated players? I am sure this is making a difference.

    I try so hard to keep the mindset that’s being presented here. I try to tell myself that bad luck happens in baseball…a lot.

    I try to always think, “what could I have done better?”. Typically, when I get frustrated, my pitching suffers and I give up cheap runs. Sometimes, my PCI placement and timing just isn’t good enough, consistently enough. I may have missed opportunities. May have missed meatballs. I’m always trying to look back at losses through the lens of “what could I have done to win that?”

    Despite this, there have been too many times (specifically in ranked) where I feel like I’ve lost to the game, not my opponent. Sometimes the “bad luck” seems to be heavily weighted towards one player despite the other player possibly playing well and consistently making good swings and good pitches.

    Is what it is. I’ll continue to play because I love baseball and the power creep but when it comes to H2H play, I can’t sustain long periods of it without getting frustrated. Looks like it’s time to build the Reds into a powerhouse in Franchise

    That was my original thought. Especially since we started with playing with a lot of silvers. But any card with power over 80 has always been able to hit home runs on a regular basis. Not hitting home runs with a diamond Mark McGuire or Sammy Sosa shouldn't be a thing.
