I feel you on this. I actually turned the game on yesterday, stared at my manage squad screen for a few minutes, and turned it off. I’ve really tried to give this year a chance to turn a corner but I’m just about done. At the very least I need to take an extended break.
It’s just not fun or rewarding and struggling to keep up or get any of the gatekeepers in the live collection or Scott Rolen collection has soured me a great deal.
I didn't mean to turn this into a complaint thread. My problem this year is that I told myself I was not going to fall into the pattern of me getting all the Cardinal Cards, creating a lineup of them and then rarely using them because I constantly have other squads playing to earn PXP or stats with a certain card type or team. I've never played enough hours each week to do both.

Fire up the Oblivion remaster, and join me in the glory of Bethesda jank.
I actually did play a little of that this morning.

I am still excited about the game, but maybe a little less than in previous years. But at some point it just isn't SDS's fault anymore. Baseball is baseball and there's really not a lot new they can do without making it not-baseball. They can give us fun rewards or make new modes like DQ, but in the end it's still pitching, hitting, fielding, running. We are all baseball nuts, but at some point our attention spans turn elsewhere. Sometimes I mix in another game just to keep things fresh, but MLBTS will always be my faithful old standby -- even if I lose interest now and then.
(BTW, gentlemen -- do not make this analogy to your wives. She does not want to mix in a new game to keep it fresh, no matter how obvious it was that our new neighbor was clearly hitting on both of us when we were gardening a couple weekends ago. Clarissa is NOT the Oblivion remaster, plain and simple)

While I agree that there is only so much you can do with baseball my biggest thing is the game just doesn’t feel fun or rewarding.
They have made hitting a mess. The CPU pitches like Rick Vaughn one minute and Greg Maddux the next. I enjoyed just being able to get on the game, mash with my favorite players, flip to get the cards I wanted, and be rewarded plentifully for my time with decent pack and stub rewards.
All of that has taken a massive step backwards to where the only thing keeping me playing is my love for baseball.
-
I'll add that the removal of Costco as an offline grinding option (I understand limiting it in online) has made the stat and PXP grinds just a little more grindy.

I feel like I always feel like this in April. Especially this year with the power creep reset. Most of us are probably still remembering what it felt like from about June onward last year, and it's easy to forget we aren't playing with 99s anymore. I think there are definitely things that need to be addressed, but overall I attribute a lot of the inconsistencies to the fact that I'm playing with mid-level diamonds or lower.
-
Yeah that’s definitely part of it. Play vs CPU games are the least fun to play. They used to be fun to just mash and get xp but now aren’t even worth the hassle this year.

Yeah I have already moved on to other games I just can't get excited about the game, I want to but can't
Hurts me to say, but yeah...the programs honestly just aren't captivating me like they have in the past. I did the grind in the 1st inning...but now I'm barely 1/3 of the way through #2. They need to bump up the Game XP back to where it was in '23 and back, for starters. Slashing the in game XP last year was certainly an odd choice. I just don't have the time to full time grind anymore...and I get there's additional XP in the programs but you shouldn't have to do them just to get additional XP.

Tell me about it. I still have no clue why they slashed gameplay XP starting last year...used to be worth it for XP to play against the CPU PLUS I could pause the game if I needed to

@SchnauzerFace_MLBTS 100% this. I took 23 off, after fizzling out in August of 22. When the baseball bug hit, I’d pop in 22, but mostly played something else. I came refreshed in 24 and 25. Hitting is fine; there’s always threads about hitting being off every year or after every update.
If anything I’m hitting better in 25 than 24, despite being one year closer to the half-century mark. Is hitting online inconsistent? Sure, that’s the nature of the beast and will always be until we see a massive technological step forward for communications.

I understand your complaint. But the community wanted more stat based options to be used in place of mandatory Showdowns, so they had to do something to curtail people finishing in an extremely fast manner.
Remember, the community (and I think you) wanted more stat based opportunities.

I thought this thread would about the content they dropped today. One card program, one card in a pack and online stat missions. Yay

Anyone know how many moments that you need to do if you do all the missions
-
If I remember correctly it is 9 missions and 11 moments with 3 points each to reach 50 points. So you can skip 3 moments … I would rather suggests (timewise) to do the moments. Yes, the Sale-one is pretty hard (took me 6 restarts … pitch inside AND outside), but the other ones are way longer … if you want to finish the program fast … which you do not have to, since you do it on the fly if you play multiplayer and put in some dodgers

I just looked on the website
9 Missions at 3 points each = 27 out of 50 points
11 Moments at 3 points each = 33 out of 50 pointsSo if you do the Missions you would need to also do 8 of the moments
If you do the moments you would need to do 6 of missions. -
The best part about this program are the moments are all pitching which are incredibly easy to complete quickly.

I thought they were all really easy. Kershaw I had to do twice but all the others were done first try. The key for pitching moments is just throw the first two pitches up and the third pitch down and its a strikeout like 95% of the time. It's easier with fastballs and offspeed pitches obviously, but still worked for me on these moments as well.

I've played the wsox alot in vs CPU games and typically get 17+Ks a game, in this the only time they didn't make contact was when the didn't swing, they didn't chase at all, did it eventually but man they couldn't miss if their eyes were closed and they were facing the dugout.
-
I don't like that you can only use 1 pitch, I like using multiple pitches

This program was...bizarre.
