Error: I can’t play cause I don’t own a current gen console

@YOSHI24_XBL I think you missed my point. If they are going to cut off old gen then so be it...Doesn't really affect me I have a pc a playstation a xbox and a switch. My point was If you are going to cut off the old gen don't stop at playstation and xbox cut off the switch too. Either do it, or don't. But don't do it half way. The old gen consoles are more capable than the switch anyways and it's a better gameplay experience. So this decision seems to fly in the face of logic and reason. There. Is that descriptive enough feedback for you?

Ive said it before and ill say it again...people wont change until they're forced to change. If companies stopped making advancements in technology because you don't have the money or you don't feel like spending it, we'd all still be using flip phones and gaming on Colecovision.
The fact that they didn't make this for ps4 and you can't play it isn't an error on their part. Its an error on yours.

It's not fair that I had to upgrade from my Commodore 64. Poor people should be able to play all the newest games without having to buy anything.
Man, when I upgraded to the Commodore 128, I got the 1mb expansion, and hooked up dual double sided disc drives, that was awesome. I kind of miss those days. It’s kind of like comparing todays automobile engines to the ones back then…they were so much easier to work on.

Nowadays, you upgrade from the PS4 to the PS5, and you're not actually sure what the upgrades are. Games don't look significantly better, they definitely don't run significantly better, and in the case of the PS5, you don't even have much in the way of actual games! Honestly, the only real benefit for SDS to cut out last gen was slightly faster load times and MINOR performance gains on SOME stadiums

The ps4 is infinitely more capable than that little nintendo switch that they are still selling copies of their game for 60$ on. What they should do is just create a seperate entity like a mobile version of the game with it's own visual assets. That way you can still cater to older consoles and switch markets but you are not holding back the development of the current gen version. Similar to how call of duty does it. It's a win win really. More player options for us and more revenue for them.

Quite a few games being left off that list.

Considering there are games on that list that wont be out until 2026 or later, you can add :
Mafia : The Old Country
Assassins Creed Shadows
GTA6
Metal Gear Solid Delta : Snake Eater
Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake
Splinter Cell remake
PGA Tour 2k25
Mortal Kombat 1
Helldivers 2
Baldurs Gate 3
Split Fiction
Monster Hunter Wilds
Forza Horizon 5
Indiana Jones and The Great Circle
Silent Hill 2
Kingdom Come : Deliverance 2
Doom : The Dark AgesMost of these will more than likely be out before Wolverine. And these are just some of the AAA titles, not including sports games.

Literally NONE of those games are only on PS5.

nope. But they are all current gen so they arent on ps4 either. Which was how this topic was started. Ya know...because OP didnt wanna upgrade from the ps4. Upgrading would require a current gen console

this is the hard truth. I had a co-worker who has a PS4 ask me if it's worth upgrading to a PS5. She knows I'm a hardcore gamer.
I was honest w/ her and said that PS5 is pretty much a souped up PS4. Most of the games are just remakes on PS5 with better graphics and sometimes better FPS.
But if you've already played and beaten the same game on PS4, nothing is going to be different on PS5 unless you like replaying games. The gaming experience is pretty much the same on PS5 and maybe was more enjoyable on PS4 as it was your first time playing that title.

$500 is expensive? Do any of you kids WORK or have a career or is gaming it for you?
I keep seeing how a silly console is 'expensive' WTF are we all talking about? McDonalds, now thats expensive hot GARBAGE and none of you have a problem spending $25 on a meal that's not even food.

$500+Paying for internet on top of paying for internet (Just to play one game) is in fact, expensive within context. Just because you can afford something doesn't exactly mean you should buy it.

@Jayseearr_PSN I got the point and Switch is currently the best Nintendo system … They only left old gen behind. Other than that: Still the same. This debate leads to nothing, they won‘t come back

MLB is making them make it for switch.

The fact is my family isn’t rich enough to buy a new console every release and I have FOMO(fear of missing out)and my parents can’t afford to get a new console for me I’m begging the devs to make it cross gen and like the old saying goes if it ain’t broke don’t fix it well I have a saying if the last gen consoles still work don’t upgrade too soon til u can afford a new console

Be thankful it was 5 years, when PS4 came out PS3 was done after 2 years.
-
@chef_423_PSN If like me you are on a fixed income, or have a monthly budget, then yes $500 is an expense that can be hard to justify. My suggestion would be that OP save whatever money they can and buy a current gen system when they can.
-
@nick23400_PSN You can go to any local Gamestop where you live and make as little as a $5 payment, and you can eventually pay for a PS5 that way, or you can pay $200 for a used one, or $300-$400 for a new one there. It's that simple! Normally, since at least the end of the cycle for PS2, they usually allow and make sports games for the old consoles for two years, then afterwards they phased them out for the new systems. The only reason that it didn't happen for five years in this current PS5 cycle was because of Covid, and it took most people two years to find one, much less buy one. At Gamestop, I usually exchanged old controllers that I didn't use, exchanged physical games (Ones with Discs), and my old outdated systems for payment for the new ones. I have done this for decades, and you can, too. Or, you can wait between 2026-2028 for the new PS6 to come out, and pay for it then. It's your choice! SDS and MLB aren't obligated to make a game for an outdated system that is almost at the end of its cycle.
