DD Deep Dive Video Just Dropped: Grade A-!

I was very much opposed to buying the game this year but I think the changes they've made have roped me back in. I love that TA is going back to being team based. It was ridiculous to me that you could grind out a weekend and have 30 99s plus the other 99s in the TA collections. Now if you want that 86 Frank Thomas you need to actually use White Sox players to obtain him. It's a real "team" affinity. I think it will lead to more lineup diversity with some of the other changes they've made (real power creep). Getting those players should actually require some effort. I think there are going to be enough other ways to earn decent cards that you'll be able to field a decent team either way. The last few years just felt like a grind to get things done. Now I can focus on actually working towards something I want, and that seems like a big win to me.

@aldridg6in_PSN No mention of any captains yet. If they are gone, lineup diversity will be nonexistent after a few weeks.

Probably true. I feel like this version of team affinity is tailor made for captains. Hopefully they don’t mess that up.

@aldridg6in_PSN It has me worried because some of the streamers don’t like captains and those are the only opinions they seem to care about. Captains are one of the most fun things for me.

Its an 86 overall Frank Thomas. Were you expecting 120 across the board? He wasnt exactly the best defensive 1B in history either.
Also, its a captain card. Those stats will obviously go up when it meets parameters.

Welcome to Yearlong Progression. The only Day 1 card with end-game potential is the MLB Collection.

@SaveFarris_PSN maybe. I am still not convinced they have any 99s in the game at launch with the overalls we are seeing (highest live at 91, WS awards look like 88s, etc).

Since 2017 when I first started playing DD, there has never been a product launch without at least one 99.

@SaveFarris_PSN so? We have never seen the overall curve this low at launch either (including LS). SDS has shown they are willing to make big changes (99s day 1, sets/seasons, a unified online program, etc) and keep in mind none of the other ultimate team games have 99s at launch either.

Since there are no more Sets & Seasons and they are going back to a slower build approach with the overalls, I can still see the main collection reward being a 99, but the AL/NL cards being 96/97.
People have just been so spoiled over the last few years with 125 everything that I can already see complaints about how these cards are gonna be labeled as bad or Ls.

Those hitting attributes look low compared to the end game cards we just saw in ts24. Those are decent though and in early game it will probably be one of the better hitters.

Yes I understand it’s an early card. I’m partial to players who can also play defense. Just thought those hitting numbers were low. Most likely because I’m used to the end game cards I’m playing on 24 now. Can use him as DH or bring of the bench to face lefties.

It's not just you, they do look low compared to end game cards.

@GradektheBard_PSN Interesting point. Trout or the top card was usually in the 94-95 range. It would be a massive disappointment if the live series collection isn’t a 99 though. Honestly, I’ll be disappointed if the AL/NL aren’t also. We’re talking millions of stubs to get those guys. Everyone was begging for them to get rid of seasons. Get ready for everyone complaining about the power creep being too slow.

@GoozeFn_PSN they could always hold off on dropping the 99s for collections until later. No one is forcing anyone to race the collection and I doubt it would cost them much money either (the people buying the collection would still want all the diamonds anyways). I could see a 95 LS card at launch that you would later collect (by itself) to get a 99.
