I think the likeness rights are timed contracts. I doubt that they are open ended where they can just use the player every year for the rest of time.

I am sure that they also have a budget for the likeness rights. You bring in McGwire and Sosa and Jeter and a few guys have to not be renewed to stay within budget.

None of us know exactly how much they pay out each year for the legends. But, just like fans of baseball teams, you always wish your they would throw out the budget and spend more
