Your thoughts on Who do you think is going to be the next cover athlete for MLB The Show 25

My Top 5 not in any particular older but I would say that these five would be my front runners to be in the cover for The Show 25 I did one a few months back but now looking at the offseason i redid one again and see if im close.
Bobby Witt Jr.
Elly De La Cruz
Juan Soto
Josè Ramirez
Ketel Marte
Who do you have as your top 5 or you main cover athlete for MLB The Show 25

I predict Elly De La Cruz. But who knows. There are a lot of good options, as there probably always are. It’s hard to narrow it down to one guy.

I am guessing Elly only because they kind of ignored him this season in spite of him being a very desired player. His best normal card was a 95 set 2 all-star. A switch hitter with 99 speed and power.

I believe that it will either be Elly or Juan Soto. It seems like the SDS staff will select a player with more charisma and flash than a player that was the greatest performer, like Ronald Acuna, Jr. was between 2021 to 2024. The greatest example of this recently was Jazz Chisolm, Jr. then of the Miami Marlins in 2023, a .240 career average hitter, who couldn't stay healthy and was a questionable fielder; but he was, and still is, a fanatical player of MLB The Show and is confident in spades. For this he was selected over the then-current MVP (Acuna, Jr.), who is more humble and understated; but far more productive. In my opinion, the cover athlete should be Ichiro or Aaron Judge, both great performers, but they (SDS) will chose style over substance instead. Count on it!

Freddie Freeman.... I also think Giancarlo Stanton could make a solid pick... Idk why ppl think Elly is a shoe in... Fan boys probably...

I’ve never thought he’s a shoe in. Just someone being considered. Personally, I’d like to see Betts on more than anyone, even Ohtani. He’s very well liked around the league, is very marketable, and has never been on. -

I'm a Cardinals fan so I am anything but a fanboy of any Reds player.
Like I said. It was strange that after season 2 the only card we saw for Elly was a 95 out of position SP card. His best SS card was a 95 all star. That is why I believe that they held him back so that they can release a desirable 99 as a pre-order bonus.
Logic for Juan Soto is the same logic that landed Bryce on the cover during his free agency year. The fact that he was going to get a ton of press during the offseason.
If they went with who is deserving then we would get an MVP or Cy Young winner every year but we don't. Plus in the end I think the player has to agree to it and also be willing to do some promotional work for it.
Freeman and Stanton had great postseasons but their regular season did not put either in the top ten in MVP voting. Freeman was 17th and Stanton didn't receive any votes. Plus I think the decision is made before the season even ends. Remember when Jazz was visiting the studio in like July the year before he was on the cover.
But in the end, it does not matter to all of us here. We all buy the game regardless of the cover athlete. We may complain or be happy about it but it does not change our minds about buying the game.

think of guys who haven't gotten a 99 yet. out of the guys that @LexDoThisBro_PSN listed, everybody except Elly de la Cruz got one. he would have 100% gotten one by now, and he didn't. but SDS isn't going to just not release a 99 de la Cruz, they are going to release one later when he is announced as the cover athlete.
