I read the article earlier and it just seemed like the writer Read the SDS blog then went to reddit or this forum to get opinions and then wrote it up. There was nothing concrete that we did not already know.
Writer Brian Mazique has conducted many interviews and always seemed to have positive interactions with SDS in the past, so if I trust anyone's opinion, it's his.

I'm not saying that I don't trust him, just that he made no definitive statements about things we did not already know or could infer from the Blog.

Don't think the blog mentioned Garciaparra possibly being in the game.

Face it: None of it matters until BONDS wants to be in the game.

Expanding the RTTS career path is nice. There are some rumors it may include college. What I would like to see is a streamlined approach where the only means by which a player can improve himself is through on-the-field play quality. Linking attributes to equipment never was appropriate and so the equipment should be available up front and without stubs, just as it is in Franchise mode.
As far as Barry Bonds is concerned, he and Roger Clemens are the two most notorious cheaters of the steroid era of baseball. Bonds used that angle to eclipse the home run record of Henry Aaron, and it angered me greatly that Aaron was denied the opportunity to see his record eclipsed by an honest player. And Bonds might have been able to do so without steroids. In my view, barring his late career injuries, Ken Griffey, Jr., was on the path to do so and I would have loved to have seen Griffey achieve that mark and I know Aaron would have loved to see it as well.

Who would not love to have Barry in the Game?!?!?!? He could have some awesome cards, Speed and five-tool in the 90s, raw power in the later years … I mean this thread is not a HOF-debate-thread

This is a baseball game. So, actions that affect baseball are 100% on the agenda! Bonds and Clemens won't be in this game because MLB will step in and say, "Hell no!" and this is one time when MLB would be absolutely correct.
People who threaten the integrity of baseball and afterward show zero remorse don't deserve any memorialization, in any venue.

There is absolutely no way it'll include college. They don't have the licensing budget for both the schools and NIL.

Bonds has held a coaching position for the Marlins and a front-office position for the Giants. MLB did not step in and say "Hell No!" in either instance.

Not only that, but Sosa, McGwire, Ryan Braun, Andy Petitte, David Justice, Jason Giambi, Jeff Bagwell, David Ortiz, Ivan Rodriguez, Gary Sheffield and Rafael Palmeiro, all alleged or admitted PED users, are in MLB The Show 24. It'd look a little silly for MLB to block Bonds and Clemens when it let all these other guys in it. Not to mention they were two of the greatest players in the game.

Good point … but hey, we are baseball fans … Again: Which baseball guy did not - in each of his seasons - admire his play? He was awesome to watch. I would really love to have him on my video game squad

All of that would be nice, not sure if SDS will actually follow through on Barry Bonds. ( He doesn't deserve to be in the game anyway due to cheating)
So Sosa and McGuire are ok? Stop being a hater. Bonds deserves to be in the HOF, record books and the Show.
-
I never said that Sosa and McGuire are OK, anyone that has done steroids doesn't deserve to be in the game or in the HOF. They cheated while playing the game hence why they don't belong
-
You guys can argue all you want. Bonds not being in the game is entirely the fault of Bonds. As I understand it he was not even in the game while he was still playing because he was not part of the Players Union. MLB is not holding up his inclusion. SDS is not holding up his inclusion. Bonds is the hold-up. Either he does not want to be included or simply asks for too much money to obtain the likeness rights.

This is a slippery slope for SDS. A large chunk of RTTS players complain every year that it takes to long to get to the majors. Another chunk wants even more minor league levels and college. If they extend the time it takes they will hear plenty of complaints unless they find ways to make it more compelling. And while I agree that equipment playing such a large role seems wrong they have learned how to monetize RTTS so I can't see this changing.
-
@Dolenz64_XBL regarding the RTTS time to majors, the simple solution is to give the user control (via a slider) of the sensitivity to promotion (or if it’s based on attributes, how quickly they are accumulated) or something like that. User customisation… something that this game has lost sight of over the years.
I remember RTTS had buying attribute points and injury healing as a monetisation option too. Much better than forcing equipment

You are assuming it will feature actual colleges/universities. My guess is the schools will feature fictious names. That avoids all the licensing issues.

Telling the truth that someone cheated the basic elements and history of the game isn't hating, and in pointing out the truth one isn't required to write a comprehensive list of all people who cheated the game in any way, shape or form.

Bonds deserves to be in the HOF, record books and the Show.
Bonds is in the Record Books - He is listed as the HR leader on MLBs own website so it looks like he is in the record books
Bonds Deserves to be in the HOF - HOF is voted on by the Baseball Writers of America. It is they and not MLB keeping him out.
Bonds deserves to be in the Show - Nobody is purposely keeping him out. He has to want to be in the show and also not price his likeness rights so high that SDS (and Sony) feels like it is a worthy investment.

And everyone will hate it because a game featuring real MLB teams and real MiLB teams cheaping out with fake ncaa teams will please no one.
