Small List of Batter's SDS has Rights To But Won't Use
-
Just because they have the rights to these players doesn't mean that they have to use them, in my opinion more than half of them don't even deserve to have a card in this game
-
Are they useable in other parts of the game. How do we know they can use they’re likenesses? Just a curiosity by me.
-
I am not sure where this list came from but I assume they all came as some package deal with players they are using.
The majority of the names I don't even recognize. I looked up Sam Fuld, a .227 lifetime hitter with 12 career homeruns. Is there any fan of the Cubs, Rays, A's or Twins that would be happy if they gave out a Sam Fuld card?
-
Assuming they could actually use these players, a great use would be BR silver and golds for these guys rather than repeating other guys. They could do gold only and silver only mini seasons. They should absolutely use every single player they have the rights to.

This list came from the former players tab in the create-a-player menu, and there were hundreds more. This was just a small list, but some people are clearly missing my point. There is clearly no need to keep recycling players when there are, no exaggeration, hundreds at SDS's disposal. For those wondering, they can't name the animations of the player without having their rights.

Aside from Adrian Gonzalez, I will gladly pass on all those dudes. If they can sell off the rights to the other 53, maybe they can afford to bring back Jimmie Foxx.
EDIT: Actually I take that back. Keep Sean Casey. Isn't he the guy who got thrown out from LF when running to first?

I have a feeling that it is not that straight forward.
I saw Red Schoendienst in the batting stance list. I just don't believe for a second that they would ignore a Hall Of Famer who spent 15 years with the Cardinals. He was a 10X all-star.
With Pujols, Molina and Wainwright all retiring and being out of the game why would they not add in a new Cardinal Legend if they had him available?

Yeah, you are probably correct; it's probably not that straightforward. Unfortunately, all we can do is speculate because of the lack of transparency from SDS/Sony. Perhaps the repetitive content would be more tolerable if we knew what these likeness negotiations entailed.

Scored as 7-3

Finest 2014 card for sure. 4 HR's, .239 average, .9 WAR. A boy can dream...
-
@sbchamps17_NSW Respectfully, are you nuts?! Doerr and Boudreau are Hall-of-Famers, and some of the rest of those players on that list, were the better contact and power hitters of their era. Why isn't SDS using them?
-
It doesn't mean that people want to use those cards. Not every player will be in the game. Alot of cards are just used for collections for alot of people
-
I highly doubt they have the rights to these guys
Gonzalez in particular, but Cirillo would absolutely have cards too at a quick glance.
-
Milton Bradley was a kook.
They must be afraid to approach him......even on ZOOM 🤪 -
@MarioMendoza935_XBL I think that would be hilarious for a silver BR card.
-
@TheGoaler_MLBTS Yeah, but he’d probably be great in game and you could give him good cards for a few different teams.

@Dolenz_PSN currently GM of the Phillies! Must admit I only remember him defensively but agree, doesn’t warrant special treatment

I would imagine there are some Tampa fans that would appreciate a low 90s Johnny Gomes early in the season to mix things up.
A guy like Jacobs could be part of a 'late season call ups' series for the mets, and then he had a 30 HR season for the marlins a couple years later.
So I would say 1/3 of these would certainly be good additions, and better than a good deal of the TA 2.1 cards (assuming they somehow had their rights for free)
And if they have 'good swings' they will be used by even more people regardless of the quality of player
But the assumption being made is that SDS has rights to these players, which they almost definitely do not.
-
You can give PLENTY of those guys high 80’s/low 90’s cards in the beginning or middle of seasons that would simply mix it up instead of giving the same player 7 different versions of himself. There were numerous guys on that list who had a very solid, or multiple, solid seasons
